Representatives :rom all campus organizations and each department were invited to attend. Two speakers have been decided upon, and they were tenta tively accepted. They are Dr. Harold W. Tribble, president of Wake Forest college and Dr. Harry (oodykoontz, of the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. Other planning meetings are scheduled for the spring. "Y" Deputation A YM-YWCA deputations team will go out from Carolina March 14 and 15 to the lower part of the state. The main speaker will be Peter Kahl, a German exchange student. Discussion Group Meets The first of the newly organized "Y"-sponsored campus discussion groups met last Friday afternoon. The session was led by Rev. Poag, of the Shandon Presbyterian Church, on "What is Faith." I The downstairs reception room has n been repainted pink, and blue 1 drapes and radiator covers have y been added for contrast. 14 Plans are under way to have y Studio B repainted green and to t put maroon drapes and radiator covers in Studio A and the control room. Jeannine Fair has under taken the tremendous task of mak ing the drapes and covers by hand. "Ye Olde Station" has greatly improved in appearance, and the proud station members cordially in vite anyone interested to come up and look about. WUSC has been presented 800 1 records, both new and old, by WMSC, Columbia's CBS station. WUSC would like to take this op portunity to thank publicly Mr. Martin, general manager of WMSC, for this fine stock of re cordings. One of the main features of the Wednesday night programs is "Guest Star," presented every Wednesday night 10-10:30. With I)ick Duncan as announcer, Mary Evelyn Rogers as script-writer, and university students providing the talent, the program has become one of the highlights of the evening. Molly McGregor's popular classics and Frank Brad ey's tenor rendi tions are recent %iecigs. + WUSC is pianning to purchase, in the near future, a line-worth transcription library of approxi mately 5000 recordings. This will enable the station to stay on the air full time from 2 p. m. until midnight. Soon the station will conduct a campus-wide poll concerning types of programs which will interest students. SIMS Pistol Pete Campassi will be go ig after his fifteenth win Monday ight when the Birds take on Mary ind in the Field house. His three ear totals are 14 wins and 9 isses. He lost four fights his first ear. Pete first donned the gloves for he Gamecocks in 1948, the same year Jess Alder man took over as boxing coach. Campassi h a d done some box ing in the Navy but. in an ama teurish w a y. Alderman start ed off from scratch w i t h t h e Clarksdale, Miss., lad. Pete iad no knowledge of even the fun lamentals of boxing. But under the vatchful eyes of Alderman, Pete aught on quickly and soon de eloped into a polished boxer. 'hrough determined effort and a ot of hard work, he won the South rn Conference championship that rear. In 1949 Pete fought his way to he finals of the Southern Invita ional boxing tournament, only to ose in a close fight to Peewee Moss >f L.S.U. Moss went on later to win the National championship at \lichigan State. Last year Pete reached his peak when he heat Ted Thrash of L.S.U. f"or the S.I.B.T. title. The matches were held in Columbia.
