About half of the job opportuni ties are for men not subject for draft. The need for this type is so great that the salaries offered are often as high as $300 a month or more, if the applicant has experi ence as well as a degree. The Bureau has had daily phone calls for bookkeepers, secretaries, and teachers for high and gram mar schools. Carolina Fili Releases Spi Jane Brooks Marshall, president of the Carolina Film Society, an nounces a new series of pictures for this semester. The following information on them has been pre pared by Prof. A. R. Lewis of the history department. "On Feb. 19 at 8 p.m., in Dray ton Hall and on successive Monday nights through April 23rd the uni versity Film Society will present its new series of motion pictures to Columbia's addicts of the cinema. This series was especially chosen by the members at their last De cember meeting from over forty pictures available, for .booking. It is a balanceLoffei-ing :olethe old and the new, the domestic and the foreign, the light and the dramatic. The first fil , shown Feb. 12, was Douglas Fairbanks' "The Thief of Bagdad." Next Monday's booking is "The Baker's Wife." This engaging, rather naughty comedy is dis tinguished by the excellent acting of Raimu, who manages to bring chuckles while tugging at one's heart strings. The next is a return engagement of Alfred Hitchcock's best sus pense cinema tale, "The Lady Van ishes,'' starring Margaret Lock wood, Michael Redgrave, and Paul Lukas. This is followed by George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion," a favorite wif.h movie goers and sparked by the fine performance of Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller. It features Madeline Carroll and Rob ert Donat in the leading roles. Next is "Bombshell," which helped to make Jean Harlow the Ameri can husbands' favorite dream and the American wives' pet peeve. It is worth coming to see how she managed it. Quite different from this is the picture which follows, "It Happened One Night," a light, frothy comedy which is probably Clark Gable's best. Next on the bill is "Morocco," which co-stars Marlene Dietrich at her lushest and Gary Cooper as her silent suf fering soldier lover. Plenty of desert, planty of the Foreign Le gion, and plenty of Tillie Losch in a dance worth remembering through the years. And last of all "The Damned," a French master piece of recent vintage acclaimed by the critics. Memberships for all ten per formances are available at the rea sonable price of $2.00 for students and $3.00 for others and may be procured at the Information Desk in Maxcy college, The Book and Record Shop at Five Points and the Town Theatre.
