THERE ARE STARS in Carolyn Dabbs' eyes because Richter Moore, Pi Kappa Phi, put that ring on the third finger, left hand. JEANINE BERIOS, another Sims third wester, is en gaged to Joe Savoca. They plan to be married next summer. BARBARA RAFFIELD, Pi Beta Phi alum, was married to Mackey Scott in Aiken on September 16. Nat Thomas and Pat Conder, Pi Phi's, were bridesmaids. PAT BASS, Chi Omega, was pinned by Ray Berry, Lamda Chi. THE CHI 0's say welcome to their two transfers--Mil dred Flowers, from Queens, and Virginia Dove, from the College of Charleston. ANNA McLAUGHLIN, Delta Zeta, is engaged to Bob Brock. "Sometime next August," Anna says. ANN RAWL, Kappa Delta, was married to Spruce Mc Cain, Kappa Alpha, on September 12. "Chine" Van Keuren, Kappa Delta alum, will be married to Whitman Marshall in Kingstree on November 2. RHEATTE SOKOL and Sam Sorota, Phi Epsilon Phi, were married in August at Savannah, Georgia. BEAUMONT BARRINGER, Tri Delt, is pinned to Paul Palmer, SAE. Susan McElveen, Tri Delt, is engaged to Jack Grayb'j l, S. A. E. alum. .VARY BLANCHE (BUTCH) CORRY, ADPi, is getting married to Campbell Laney, Kappa Alpha, in September. The ADPi's were honored on Saturday, September 16, by Vaughn Monroe and company singing their "Sweetheart Song." THE ZTA NATIONAL CONVENTION was held at Grand Hotel, Machinac Island, Mich., from June 30 to July 7. Martha Helms and Olga Edwards represented their Carolina sisters. CONVENTIONS were in the air this summer. The Pi Beta Phi's held theirs at Jasper National Park in Canada, and Greta Miley attended it. ANN PORCHER ZEIGLER, Tri Delt, is engaged to Pat Perrin, ATO and law school graduate. Ann Louise Pressley, Tri Delt is pinned to Dick Blencowe, SAE. THE RINGS ARE DAZZLING all over the place. Eleanor Teyssier, ADPi, is engaged to Jack Williams of the Charles ton Medical College. Patsy Riley, ADPi, received a ring from Bill Brown, Sigma Chi. ZETA TAU ALPHA had a very successful campus wide drop-in Thursday night, from 8 until 10. About 400 guests enjoyed the refreshments of punch and cookies. KATHE1YYN WALLACE, KD alum, received a ring from Julian, Salley, SAE alum. BARBARA FOWLER, Chi 0, is still excited about seeing Elizabeth Taylor and her husband while she toured Europe this summer. BEVERLY MICKLE, ZTA alum, was married to Bill Osborne in Columbia at the Shandon Methodist Church. Mrs. W. E. Helms, Jr. (Martha Edens), ZTA alum, has been elected vice-president of the alum chapter of Alpha Province. This province includes the whole state of South Carolina. ARROWI SHIIRTS & TIES UNDERWEAR - HANDKERCIllEF'S * SPORTS SHIRTS Victory Religious Council Plans Activities in First Meeting Carolina Religious Council held its first meeting Tuesday at the YMCA building, President Charles Robinson announced. The council represents all stu dent religious organizations and endeavors to work out with the various groups a comprehensive and united religious program. Membership is composed of Hillel Society, Newman Club, West minster Fellowship, Lutheran Stu dent Association, Wesley Founda tion, Baptist Student Union, Can terbury Club, Christian Service club, YMCA and YWCA. A report was given of the pro gram for new students and a crit ical evaluation of the results of this effort to help the new students get started and to interest them in the various aspects of the religious program of the, university. A report on the progress of plans for religious emphasis week was presented by Robert G. Bell, executive secretary of the 'Y,' and discussion was held on the work to be done immediately. Council decided to sponsor and encourage participation in services of World Wide Communion Sun day, October 1. Cornelia Schultz, Jean Gayden and Ken Creel were appointed as a committee to carry out this program. A committee was appointed to sponsor a world wide Bible read ing program again this year, from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Stuart Mosely, Harry Bull and Corky Melcher will serve on the com mittee. A series of religious programs will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, once each month. Fred Reese, Ira Edens and Bob Smith form the committee to work out the pro gram. Sims Dormitory Filled As In 1945 Sims collcge, dormitory for women, is more crowded than it has been since the 1943-1945 years, according to Mrs. Hattie Pender, housemother. New wallpaper decorates the dormitory rooms and the rooms have been rearranged attractively. The entire Wade Hampton lobby has been redecorated, while the Alpha Delta Pi's have moved into the small lobby of Sims. McBryde Has First Meeting of Term McBryde Brotherhood held its first meeting of the fall sem~ester Tuesday night, when the members wvho moved in this semester *were introduced, Paul Greer, president, announced. Ronald Adams gave a history of the organization. Plans were made for an active semester including parties and participation in intramiurals and other activities. Jesse Bardin, Elloree, was named vice-president. Elinor Acree, Columbia, will serve as secretary. A treasurer will be elected to replace Denise Guerrin, who has withdrawn from school. The first meeting for the fall term will be held September 26, at ' p. m. in the art studio. Cabaret Party Will Entertain Duke Sigma Nu's Delta chapter of Sigma Nu social fraternity will entertain members of Gamma chapter of Duke university Saturday at 8 p. m. with a cabaret style party. The party will be held in the rathskeller of the Jefferson hotel following the Duke-Carolina foot ball game.
