A preview on what the 1950 foot

End and quarterback seem to bi
the chief problems, and Coach Re:i
Enright and his staff have beez
combing the ranks of the squad o:
approximately 80 candidates in tho
hope of discovering some brigh
prospects for those positions.
The Birds lost five lettermei

his coaches have expressed faith

Dick Balka, a transfer from I
Notre Dame, has looked good in
the workouts to date, but he must
attend summer school to be eligible
to play next fall. Otherwise, he
will have to bohunk, according to
Southern Conference rules.
When questioned concerning the
progress of the squad thus far,
Coach Enright said, "The men are
aggressive, hard-hitting, and have
a good attitude."
The quarterback situation looks
better, but is undoubtedly still a
I problem. Replacements at end are
I scarce. The loss of Roger Wilson,
Cecil Woolbright, Dick Fagan, Jim
Pinkerton, and Harry Bryson
weakened the team at both the of
