Celebrai Pan-Hellenic To Start At At 2:30 P.N The first Pan-Hellenic workshop at the universty will be sponsored by the eight national sororities on the campus tomorrow in Drayton Hall from 2:30 p. m. until 6 p. m., Irene Herty, chairman, has an nounced. The workshop will be preceded by a luncheon in Sims lobbies and sorority rooms at 1 p. m. Miss Mary Merritt, principal workshop speaker, and -Mrs. Arney Childs, USC dean of women, will address the members of the campus Pan Hellenic council. X.4. MISS MARY MERRITT Miss Merritt will be honored at a drop-in tonight from 7 p. m. un til 8 p. m. Guests will be Mrs. Childs and members of the Pan. Hellenic council. At 2:80 p. m., the workshop will open at a general session in Dray ton Hall for all sorority members. Miss Merritt will speak. From 4 p. m. until 5 p. m., specialty sessions, including panel discussions and discussion groups, will be held in the classrooms in Wardlaw College. The findings session will meet in Drayton Hall at 5 p. m., after which the workshop will be con cluded. Dot Coe, Delta Zeta, is in charge of the luncheon committee. Frances LaBorde, Pi Beta Phi, and Polly Harris, 'Alpha Delta Pi, are in charge of the panel discussions. Miss Mary B.,Merritt is nation al Pan-Hellenic delegate of Phi Mu sorority and is active in the Miami Pan-Hellenic council. She is dean of women' at the Univer sity of Miami. Kappa To Initiate Within Week New members of Alpha Psi Chapter of Kappa Pi, national honorary art fraternity, will be initiated just before Christmas holidays begin, according to Jessie Bardin, president. Names of the initiates will be announced later. The Alpha Psi chapLet s 'Edi cated to the stimulation and ap preciation of art activity. Its ac tivities include holding art exhibits and participating in art activities throughout the state. Sponsor for the group is Mrs. Augusta Wittkowsky, art instruc tor on the university faculty. Mrs. Wittkowsky has traveled and studied in such countries of art in terest as France, Mexico, and Greece. During the past summer she toured Italy, visiting places of interest like Florence, Asissi, and Venice. The oldest honorary art fra ternity among colleges today, Kappa Pi was founded In 1911 at the University of Kentuacky. Other institutions soon became interested, and were granted charters.. Today Kappa Pi is represented at 60 schools. In South Carolina, there is the Alpha Theta Chapter at Winthrop in addition to the chapter here. Individual member ship requirements are to be an art major or minor with at least a "B" average. Alpha Psi meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p. in. in the Fine Arts building.
