Intramural ]
Today On 1

A football field day is to be held
this afternoon at 2 p. m., on Melton
Field. There will be competition in
such events as punting for dis
tance, punting for accuracy, pass
ing for distance and accuracy, kick
ing extra points, and so forth. Any
one desiring more information on
this event should call the intra
mural office.
Stude'nts are reminded that the
intramural swimming meet is to
be held on Thursday, November 17,
at 7:80 p. m., at the University
pool. Fraternities will swim as
teams and the independent students
may participate individually. Those
wishing to register for the meet
can do so at the intramural office
in the gymnasium.
The intramural football league
Is scheduled to begin its season
on Nov. 28. An independent or
fraternity group desiring to enter
a team must do so by Friday Nov.
18. No entries will be accepted
after that date. Entries should be
filed with Joe Grugan at the in
tramural office.
Volleyball
In the Fraternity Leagues this
week Alpha Tau Omega racked up
two victories, scoring a forfeit
win over Pi Kappa Alpha and
downing Phi Kappa Sigma 15-6
and 15-8. Sigma Nu chalked up a
triumph over Pi Kappa Alpha by
taking two games by identical
scores of 15-6.
Kappa Alpha had little trouble
in downing Pi Kappa Phi 15-3 and
15-5.
Sigma Chi scored two wins, tak
ing a forfeit game from Phi Ep
silon Pi and beating Sigma Alpha
Epsilon 15-7 and 15-13 in a real
thriller.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon had a busy
week. They played two games be
sides their loss to Sigma Chi, and
won both contests. SAE beat Phi
Sigma Kappa 15-9, 15-11 and
downed Lambda Chi Alpha 15-9
and 15-11.
In the Independent League, Town
Boys, Maxey 3rd, Freshman Y,
and Tenement 24 %, all received
forfeit victories when their sched
uled opponents failed to appear.
Ten. 1 and 5 took two out of
three from the Fresh. Y. winning
15-8 and 15-7 after dropping the
opener 8-15.
The Carovets chalked up three
wins this week. They defeated
Ten. 24% 15-10 and 15-5. They
also had an easy time with Ten.
29 as they beat them 15-2 and 15-8.
They rounded out the week with
a 15-0, 15-2 rout of Ten 2 and 3.
By scoring 78 points in its first
two games the University of
Miami football team has already
topped its scoring total for 1929,
1980, 1932 and 1944 seasons.

The Gamecocks will take the
field in their familiar role of un
derdog, but they are an optimistic
crew after upsetting" the Mar
quette University Hilltoppers 6-8 k
in Milwaukee, Wis. last Saturday.
The Birds are making a serious
bid for the title of "most traveled
football team in the country."
They opened the season by flying
to Waco, Texas where they met the
Baylor Bears. After three home
games, the flying Gamecocks went
to Maryland and to Milwaukee on
consecutive weekends and this
week they reversed the procedure
by going south to Miami. Remain
ing trips this season include a
jaunt to Atlanta to engage Georgia
Tech on Nov. 19, and a short trip
to the Citadel Dec. 3.
Last weekend, the pass defense
that the Birds lacked against
Maryland was with them and the
