Mike likes people-especiall
No few students have seen
clipped-eared figure gracing
dormitories.
If you haven't guessed, Mike
to Fitzhugh L. Perry of Myrt
Mike was threatened with a case
in equityotwo weeks ago and had
to leave town hurriedly until
things blew over. It all happened
while he was frolicking on the
beach, chasing sea gulls, and get
ting his nose pinched by irate sand
crabs that he spotted a slinky
streaming thing trailing in the
breeze and moving under the loco
motion of two feminine legs. Im
mediately his curiosity was piqued
and he began investigation. The
attraction turned out to be some
kindly lady who was taking her
afternoon stroll. Mike fell in love
with her immediately, displaying
his ardor by leaping upon the
frightened woman, greasing her
face with a moist tongue, and
shaking the trailing edge of the
flowing beach coat with deter
mined jaws.
The victim sent up a flurry of
pantomimes that would have made
Al Jolson jealous. Mike knew im
mediately that he had a playmate.
He danced in and out growling a
guttural delight while mouthing
her shoes, then returning to the
floating cloak for a few playful
shakes and tugs.
Before the panicky woman had
an attack of angina pectoris Fitz
hugh reached her, called off his
dog and spanked him soundly, alli
to Mike's exLreme dismay at such
unwarranted treatment.
Both the kindly lady's shoes
were untied, paw marks specked
her bodice, and the beach coat re
sembled shredded wheat.
"I'm terribly sorry, lady, but
he wouldn't hurt a flea," Fitz
hugh condoled.
"Yes, but I'm no fleal" the wo
man spouted angrily. "You'll
hear from this!"
The nexL day a policeman made
an unsocial call. Result: Mike at
tended the university for a week,
slept in a Plym'outh convertible,
and made canine love to squealing
co-eds who scrambled upon auto
mobile hoods, scurried into door
ways, and just plain ran. One
tried to shinny up a tree when
Mike twisted up for an introduc
tion.
Perry r'eceived word three days
ago that his mother had replaced
the beach coat, and its owner had
taken' the new garment and left
town. But, nevertheless, Mike,
say authorities, must be kept out
of circulation for a while.
He is now back home, leading a
chained-down dog's life and pout
ing sulkily,. over a confinement
which he can't understand.
He still likes people, though
especially ladies.
