Sims of Winthrop; G. E. Metz,
registrar at Clemson; and J. G.
Kelly, Winthrop's registrar. Of
ficers of the association will be
elected this afternoon.
The presidents and deans meet
tomorrow in a business session, fol
lowed by a discussion of the rela
tionship of the state department
of education to colleges. Dean F.
W. Bradley of the university and
Dr. E. M. Smith, director of
teacher certification will lead the
discussion.
Officers of the registrar's as
sociation include Miss Eula Barton
of the Furman Woman's College,
president; Capt. R. C. Needham,
vice-president; J. C. Abrams of
Newberry, secretary; and S. L.
Logan of Wofford, treasurer.
Dr. R. F. Poole of Clemson is
president of the Association of
Colleges.

Of New Theater
Promoting Group
The University Players are a
member of the newly formed South
eastern Theater Conference, Rus
sell Green, Player representative
to the conference, said this week.
The group was officially formed
March 5 at Chapel Hill, N. C.,
where the first conference was
held.
Purpose of the conference will
be to promote, through cooperatv
means, a more active theatre of
high standards in the southeast.
The Conference will be co
ordinated with the Eastern Theatre
Conference, the Southwestern
Theater Conference, and other re
gional conferences under the gen
eral sponsorship of the National
Theatre Conference.
The Southeastern Theatre Con
ference covers Virginia, Wes. Vir
ginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia,
Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.

To Indiana Plant
Juniors and seniors in the School
of Pharmacy have been invited by
the Eli Lilly Company to spend
three days in Indianapolis, the
home of the company, as their
guests. The trip is scheduled tc
begin April 9.
The Lilly Company, manufac
turers of pharmaceutical supplies,
will pay all expenses of the stu
dents while in Indianapolis. This
includes hotel, meals, transporta
tion and entertainment. StudentE
may be accompanied by wives.
The Lilly Company will conduct
a tour of their plant, research lab
oratory, experimental station, and
shipping department, as well as a
tour of Indianapolis.

Club Awards Cup
To ROTC Platoon
Each year, the Kiwanis Club
of Columbia offers an award in the
forml of a cup to the best all
around platoon in the NROTC unit.
This year, the cup will be award
ed May 7 during the regular drill
period, when each platoon will pre
sent a standard procedure of close
order drill plus a "special" drill,
if decided upon by the platoon.
The judges will be the officers
of the unit, whose decision will be
based on four phases of activity:
competitive infantry drill, inter
platoon competition in rifle and
pistol firing, individual perform
ance in small arms firing and
leadership in various campus or
ganizations. A point system has
been worked out to facilitate the
decision.

The Alumni Association hopes to
have the seniors organized into an
AILumInni class before they graduate,
Ralph Lewis. secretary of the as
sociation, announced this week.
Lewis said that preparation of
Undergraduates for membership in
the association will be undertaken
this yeat also. This activity was
carried oil before the war, and this
year marks its re-awakening,
Lew%is said.
The association urges all seniors
to visit the office in Lieber Col
lege and inspect the records. Each
student has a folder which contains
inIformation about his college and
business career.
Lewis said his office is now pre
paring 13,500 copies of President
Smith'. report to the General As

Gamecock Poll On
Stadium Seating Plan
Has Little Response
The proposed seating plan out
lined in last week's issue was dis
approved 29 to 7 by the few stu
dents who saw fit to cast a ballot
in the opinion poll.
Only 36 out of 3800 students
voted ir the poll. Since the ballot
box was stuffed in the presence of
a member of the staff, the poll can
not be held as conclusive proof that
the seAting plan is undesirable. -
