They just keep on liv ing in circles . . . It's a confusing world. too . ,. . I know . . . be'cause I live in circles, too. Oh, well, that's enough about circles and life and such. University Theater To Begin ProgramI Series Over WKIX The University Theater will be gin a 13-program radio series next Friday at 5:30 p. ms over WKIX, Professor M. G. Christopherson announced. This series will be presented under the auspices of the Americani Red Cross. Each of the 15-minute plays is a story taken from the diary of a famous person of literature. These programs were featured over NBC two years ago, and include chap ters from Faust, Dick Turpin, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Baizac's Mercedet. The rights for these programs were purchased from Hollywood. The first play will be a story about France, and the second dramatizes an incident concerning Cleopatra and her brother. New members will be elected the following Monday, November 29. The (late for ODK tap ping will be announced later. Requirements for consideration for membership are (1) outstanding character, (2) junior standing, (3) a C-plus average and (4) 100 points as evaluated by the ODK point system. This was announced today by George Curry, chairman of Uni versity Film Society. "For some time a great number of people in Columbia, interested in the theater and in the movies as an art, have been anxious to see this film come to Columbia. Since its arrival in this country in 1946 it has played in the leading cities with great success but up to this time there has been no opportuhity to see it in Columbia. University Film So ciety is to provide the university and the community with that op portunity," he said. When the picture was first made, critics of the magazine Time and other leading critics declared that it was an outstanding example of the use of color and sound, and gave a completely successful movie representation of the Shakespear ian play. Time continued, "It in vests the art of9hakespeare (and the art of the cinema as well) with a new spaciousness and a new radiance which makes Henry the V one of the great plays of the cen tury." This picture was directed by Lawrence Olivier, who also plays the lead. Olivier has been recently brought into prominence by his di rection of and acting in his second Shakespearian film, "Hamlet." Recently Life in devoting a feature article described Olivier as un doubtedly "the leding actor of the English speaking world." His per formance in Henry the V as well as his genius as a movie director is fully revealed in the picture. Arrangement for the showing of the film has just been completed and six performances will be given over the three-day period at the Cayce theater. On November 23, the group will meet in the library where they will be shown around and will see some of the rare old editions in its possession. After wards they will be served tea downstairs. Clariosophic Society Passes Seating Plan For Crowded Games The Clariosphic Literary Society adopted a plan to be presented to the Board of Trustees for allevia tion of crowded conditions at the Carolina-Clemson game, at its meeting last week. According to the plan suggested by the society, the space in the west stands from the end zone to the 50-yard line is needed for 5, 000 students and the number of dates based on the present enroll ment. The p)lan also provides for a special student gate. A committee, headed by John Mason, was appointed to present the plan to the Board of Trustees.
