... . . . a spoke a week .....
By JO ANNE DELLINGER
The wheel is turning slowly this week after moving fast
and furiously over the holidays. Some people were not con
tent with the Big Thursday game but actually became ad
dicts---such were Jackie Cline and Virginia Emory who at
tended four football games. Now Virginia is off this week
end to Charlotte to visit and ride the escalator. The KA's
took off en masse to Lake Summit, N. C., dragging Tri
Delts Susan McElveen and Mary Louise Gaillard escorted
by Bobby Rodgers and Bill Fairey, respectively. Tri-Delts
off for the week-end were Fran Stanton who spent the
weekend at Duke, attending the Charlie Spivak Dance and
the U. N. C. vs. L. S. U. football game; Betsy Blundon
who visited Helen Lee Moore in Charleston, Cappy Lawrence
in Orangeburg and last but not least, Lucie Whitescarver
visiting Anne Zeigler in Orangeburg. Fred Quinn and Clyde

won't look good in print, but because The Gamecock doesn't
have a crystal ball, but must depend on information sent to

Election Time
Approaching
Homestretch

November 2nd Is just ahead.
Students are vigorously cam
paigning among themselves and
through the Carolina chapter of
the States' Rights Democrats' club.
This marks the first election
year of the century in which stu
dents of the Univerpity of South
Carolina have not supported the
Democratic candidates. In 1908
the school contributed 80 dollars
to aid the campaign of William
Jennings Bryan. Four years later
a club was formed on the campus
to aid the Wilson nomination.
Such clubs were formed by politi
cally interested students during
succeeding election years.
Now the flame burns again and
will not die out until we awake on
the morning of November 8, red
eyed and glad that it's all over.
