University Fili Starts Fall -Xm The University Film Societ Museum of Modern Art, New films released during the yea Monday nights in Drayton Ha The first series (Sept. 27-Nov. 29) is great American films. The second series (Feb. 14-Apr. 18) is great Continental films. Admis sion is by subscription only and remembership is limited to 500. Tickets are $1 for one series or $1.75 for both series. They are available at the Y. M. C. A. Busi ness Office, the Information Desk (Miss Marshall), the Town Theater Office (Mrs. Belser), and the Book and Record Shop, Five Points (Mr. Walker). South Loses In Passing Of Mitchell When Dr. Samuel Chiles Mit chell passed away in Atlanta Au gust 21, the South lost a great scholar who had been a professor for more than 60 years. From 1908 until 1913 he was president of the University of South Carolina. Later he was president of the Medical College of Virginia and of Delaware College. From 1920 until he retired in 1945 he served as professor of history at the Uni versity of Richmond. As historian and dramatist, Doc tor Mitchell taught history as drama and acted it out before the students. He devoted much of his time to the Civil War. While president of the Univer sity of South Carolina, he was best known as a speaker of wit and charm. Well remembered is his remark to the student body, "There will be an important meeting of the German Club this evening. All interested in that branch of his tory will please be present."
