Elinor Hull Goes To Pre-Med Meet At Colorado Univ. Elinor Hull, Columbia, official delegate of the Alpha chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, national honorary pre-medical fraternity, has just returned to the campus after attending the eighth na tional convention of AED at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. The Colorado chapter acted as host to about 150 students and faculty members representing 40 of the 43 active chapters. The business sessions of the conven tion were held in the Ballroom of the Memorial building in Boulder. The program for the meeting in cluded a tour of the University of Colorado school of medicine aund hospitals in Denver, a sym posium on pre-medical education, a model initiation, a sightseeing trip through Estes park, and a steak fry at Left Hand Canyon Park. Special music was furnished by students of the University of Colorado, and a western folk dance program was presented by the Calico and Boots Club of the uni versity. Participants in an by sororities and the Inde wram will be a sack race, egg and spoon race, pie-eating con test, wheelbarrow contest, steeple chase, and tug-o-war. The seventh event has not been determined. Sororities are required to have a different entry for each event. Uniforms have been selected con sisting of shorts and other appro priate apparel. Races will be judged by the fac ulty, and points will be awarded for the first, second and third plane. The team accumulating the most points in the seven events will be declared winner of the derby and will be awarded the derby cup, to be retained until next year. Delta Zeta won the cup last year. Last year's derby was featured by the selection of the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. This year, however, the sweetheart will be announced at the fraternity spring formal to be held next Friday at the Co lumbia Hotel. Following the derby, a drop in for the campus will be held in Sims lobby. Carolina's Bell Takes It Easy Carolina's old college bell, which vas graduated summa cun laude, Pebruary 10, 1941, and replaced )y a modern electric system, now eads a sedate existence atop the !hapel in Rutledge college. The old bell has had a hectic md colorful history. It was among he first bells in Columbia to ring >ut news of the ordinance of se 'ession in December, 1860.
