Presei CONSTITUTION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA STUDENT BODY We, the students of the Uni. versity of South Carolina, realiz. ing the m1ny advantages of self. government, do hereby ordain and establish this constitution for the regular discharge of student prob lems. ARTICLE I Section 1. The name of thii organization shall be the Studeni Government of the University ol South Carolina. Section 2. All regular matricu. lates of and candidates for de grees at the University.of Souti Carolina shall be considered mem bers of the student body. ARTICLE II Officers Section 1. The officers of the student body- shall be as follows: President, first vice-president, sec ond vice-president, and secretary. treasurer. The President shall be elected from the rising senior aca demic class, the first vice-presi dent from the rising senior laI class, the second vice-presideni from the female students in the rising senior academic class, and the secretary-treasurer from the rising junior academic class. ARTICLE III Duties Section 1. The president shall call meetings of the student body at such times as he may deem necessary. Also, any ten (14) members of the student body, upon signing a petition to the student council, shall have the rights to call such a meeting. The president shall be ex officio presi dent of the student council, shall preside at its meeting, and shall be entitled to a vote in the pro. ceedings in the case of a tie vote in that body. The president may call special meetings of the stu dent council, and shall call such meetings at the written request of a majority of the members of the student council. The president shall discharge all other duties in cidental or pertaining to his of fice. Section 2. It shall be the duty of the first vice-president of the studOnt body to assist the presi dent in the discharge of his duties and to assume the duties of the president in the absence of that officer. He shall serve as ex of ficio first vice-president.of the stu dent council and shall discharge all other duties incidental or per taining to his office. Section 3. It shall be the duty At U. S. C. R. The governing pom of this organization shall be vest in the student council. Section 2. Section 3. Each class shall ha the following officers: Preside: vice-president, secretary-treasur and historian. Section 4. ARTICLE V Student Council Section 1. All powers herE enumerated shall be vested in t student council.' Section 2. The new stude council shall meet the first TUE day in May. This committee is to be le composed of the president of the be Co-ed Association, the first vice of president of the student body, the Dean of Women, the Dean of the Is College of Arts and Science, the it, President of the University aId the Dean of Administration, three students chosen annually by the dstudent council, and three facut representatives chosen by the fac eulty. This committee shall meet for the discussion and promotion et of cordial relations between the efaculty and student body of the, ad University. Section 3. There shall be es tablished by the student council* a Committee on Cooperatives. This committee is to be composed of inl two (2) faculty members chosen he by the faculty, the managers of Cooperatives, and three (8) rep nt resentatives chosen b~y the Stu s- dent Council. Section 3. The student mem bers of the Honor Council shall b elected by and from the Hono Board. The Honor Board shall elec three faculty members of th Honor Council. Section 4. The Honor Boar shall consist of the followin members: (1) Four male and two femal representatives from the senio class. (2) Four male and two femal representatives from the junio class. (3) One male and one femal representatives from the sopho more class. (4) Three faculty members o the Honor Council who shall ac as advisors only. Section 5. Members of th Honor Board shall serve from th time of election through thei senior year in academic schoo) Vacancies on the Honor Counci shall be filled by and from th Honor Board. Section 6. Election of mem vers of the Honor Board to th H4onor Council shall be as follows (1) In April of each academi year the Honor Board shall mee for the purpose of electing th, Honor Council for the followinj year.
