And of all times to have midterms! SUNNERS Lambda Chi's held a houseparty down at Garden Ci at Banks Scarborough's. Banks, Freddy McIntyre, -John Cauthen, Marion Smith, and Van Newman were present wi their dates. Callie Phillips spent her vacation in Palm Beach acquiri a very good tan. DZ's who went on houseparties last weekend includ Bebe Sifford, Becky Burgdorf, Ruby Lee Hair, Jane Mi tin, Jo Stokes and Norma Tozier. Betsy Moore spent her vacation at a Citadel housepar in Ocean Drive. MOUNTAINEERS Anne L. Jackson and Bill Walters, Sigma Nu, went a Queen's houseparty at Lake Junaluska. Gene Ann Strickland, ADPi; Virginia Emory and Jacl Cline were guests of Furman boys at a houseparty at Tat Rock State Park. Carolina Students Ac In Production 'Of Town Theater Harry Murphy and Bob Wester field, both university students, have been named in the cast of the Town Theater production of "The Corn Is Green" which opens April 14. Professor George Curry, of the university history faculty, a native of Dover, England, will serve as technical advisor for the play. "The Corn Is Green", by Emlyn Williams, has been judged orie of the best plays to have appeared on Broadway in recent years. It tells the story of a school marm who, having inherited a house in Wales, starts a school for the chil dren of local miners. There is one boy on whom she pins all her hopes, coaches him in preparation for Oxford examinations and sees him through as a student at Ox ford university. The topic for the meeting was "How Deans of Women in High Schools and Colleges May be of Assistance to Each Other." Mrs. Kate Glenn Hard;n is president of the organization, Miss lMattie Belle Lester is secre tary-treasurer. The organization is open to all advisors to girls and deans of women in the high schools and colleges of the state. Alpha Psi Omega Pledges Members Richter Moore of Mayo, and Banks Scarborough of Timmons ville were pledged to Carolina's chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, na tional dramatic fraternity. Satur day night. Initiation will be held in April. Points for Alpha Psi Omega are received for work done for the University Players A total of 78 points is necessary before pledg ing. Points are received for act ing, stage work, and publicity. Girls in the pageant are: Ann Langford, Carolyn Phillips, and Anna Miller representing Alpha Independents Make Changes In Club Fees Both initiation fees and se menter dues of the Independent clubs on campus have been raised, according to an announcement by Frank Hard, vice-president of the boys' organization. A vote to raise the initiation fee to $2, and the semester dues to $8 was passed at a joint meet ing of the boys and girls organi zation Monday night. A resolution that each member be fined $.50 for each absence from a regular meeting received a majority vote and will go into effect immediately, according to Hard. Each member was assessed $1 for cost of wiring Bob Hope to ask him to come to the Independ ent's charity dance to be held in the Columbia Township Audi torium for the benefit of the or thopedic ,children's summer camp.
