He has a permit to study hero for one year but has already asked for an extension. Naturally, the young Czecho slovakian finds South Carolina quite different from his home. When he left, the food situation was still critical. Rationing was still in force and points were re quired to eat in a restaurant. The Communist-controlled government' did not accept the Marshall plan, but Miraslav said he believed the Czechoslovakian people wanted it. Miraslav flew to America, ar riving at Ellis Island January 30. He spent four days in New York before coming to South Carolina by train.
