Supply Easier,
Says F. B. Rawl
"Supplies are getting easier to
obtain for the University Canteen
and iany new lines will be car
tied in the future," Fred B. Rawl,
manager of the University Co-op
Stores, said today.
More electrical appliances are
going to be put on sale, and those
much sought-after electric stoves
will soon arrive for the students
who want to do their homework
in home economics.
If any students know of any ad
ditional .commodities that would
furnish their needs, Rawl stressed
that they should drop into his
office and talk it over with him.
He will do his best to have the
merchandise put into the show
cases, he said.
Wholesale prices are still ris
ing, but the canteen sells its goods
for 20 per cent less than other
places in Columbia, according to
the manager. Elsewhere candy
and chewing gum sell for six
cents while these items are only
five cents on the canteen coun
ters.
The canteen is open until 9 p.
m. each night to enable "last min
ute shoppers" to fill their needs.
Besides the soda fountain, the
canteen also offers floral, shoe re
pair, radio repair and other ser
vices to university students at a
discount, Rawl said.
Library to Receive
Applications For
Student Assistants
Alfred Rawlinson, university li
brarian, announced this week that
applications are being accepted
for positions as student assistants
in the university libraries.
At present, there are 19 stu
dent assistants employed part
time in McKissick library, and
other positions will be available
from time to time. _
These students are judged as to
aptitude, interest, , and general
ability, and schedules are ar
ranged so as not to conflict with
student's classes.
Rawlinson stated that opportu
nities are open to students who
are interested in making a career
of library work, and those inter
ested in applying are urged to
contact him at McKissick library.
