The Thanksgiving Day game in Charlotte started the ball rolling. (But we won't talk about that!) Then most of the Carolina student body headed for their homes in every part of the state. Some even went out of the state. o Byrd Murray, Nancy Nash. Martha Parker, and Kate El lison, Tri Delts, spent the week-end with one of their sisters, Claire Williams. Becky Burgdoff, Barbara Hawthorne, Bebe Sifford, and Jo Ann Phillips, DZs, went on a houseparty at -Edisto Island. Will Harvin, SAE, spent the week-end in Rome, Ga. He went to see his little brother play football for Darlington School for Boys. Reece Smith, SAE, spent the week-end at Chapel Hill. Henry Wannamaker. KA, spent the week-end in Manning. And turning back to last week-end, Peggy Murray treked up to Yale University for the Yale-Princeton game and the Beta Theta Pi dance. Dena Yaschik, AEPhi, has dropped out of school this semester due to the illness of her father. Esther Irick, DZ, is planning to attend the National YM-YW Conference at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Ill., from December 23 to January 3. Vera Baker and Becky Fuller of Florence will attend the annual Assembly Ball in Florence on December 13. Minnie Holmes, Louette Young, Ethel McCants, Mary Bull Pinckney. Jane Hammond, Mary Jane Childs, Anne Hiott, Cookie VanBenthuysen. Lillian Love, Nancy Ruff, and Mary King, students at Carolina, will attend the annual As sembly Ball in Columbia in December. George Wessel, past Kappa Sig prexy, and Foots James, Kappa Sig alum, spent the week-end with the brothers. William B. Pike of Orangeburg was initiated into Alpha Lambda Chi last Saturday night. Phi Kappa Sig pledges threw a party for the actives last Saturday night at Bill Brown's place. Ray Little, alum, was present for the occasion. The Phi Kaps pledger George Dean last Monday night. Tri Deltas are celebrating their annual Founder's Day Betsy Dickerson plans to journey up to Chapel Hill for the winter German Club dance at U.N.C., December 6. Banquet tonight at the Wade Hampton Hotel. Delta Sigma Pi, honorary commerce fraternity, has tapped the following new members: Bill Rogers, E. C. Alien, Lamar Davis- Wade Kolb, Jim Cobb, H. W. Taylor, Hugh Simrill, Tally Kelly, and John Herin. For membership in Delta Sigma Pi a student must be presently enrolled in the school 6f commerce, maintain a C average, and be unanimously voted in by the active members. I guess it's about "quittin' time" now. So I'll take the advice of the clam. A SPECIALTY Page Three ighE Music ToBe Made By Freddie Slack For Gala Evening The Block "C" Club will present, on the evening of December 5, the music of America's Greatest Piano Stylist, Freddie Slack, in the Uni versity fieldhouse from 9 p. m. until 1 a. m. This dance represents the first entertainment the club has sponsored since the outbreak of the war. Slack, billed by music authori ties as the greatest Boogie artist in the world, will feature the vocal charms of Dottie Ann Dare, along with his fine orchestra. The semi formal affair open to the public, will mark the presence of a "big name" on the campus. This has been made possible by the re moval of the music ban of the University. Tickets have been on sale dur ing the past weeks and will be ac cessable to all at a special booth in the post office. Prices are notable, in that they are so reasonable. The cost for stags amounts to $2.40 while the date price runs only to $3.50. This fee can be compared to no other "big name" dance in the city due to the ex ceedingly low cost of admission. Specially prepared corsages for the members of the Block "C" Club will be presented to their dates prior to the dance.
