Pledges and Initiqtes Zeta Tau Alph& initiated Lynn Couch, Joyce Harmon, and 0 Alice Mullis last Monday night ... Jack Pulliam has been elected president of the new Sigma Chi pledge class . . . Pi Phis are initiating Betty Lou Hood, Jackie Buschert, Lucy Clarkson, Frances Smith, Eleanor Wilson, Jeanne Cone, and Bobbie Hester tonight at Trinity Episcopal Church . . . Betty Fisher, transfer from Brenau, was recently affiliated with Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Delta Delta ... Tri Delts also pledged Claire Williams and Lillian Williams Wed nesday night ... New officers of the Kappa Sig pledge class are Marion Harrelson, president, Walter Folkes, vice-presi dent, and Johnny Morris, secretary-treasurer . . . SAEs pledged Guy Overstreet, John James, and Bobby Gibbes Mon day night ... . John Vedder and Ted Holladay were initiated into PiKA Monday night. Delta Sigma Pi commerce fra ternity, had a party recently at the home of Mr. Meeks, dean of the school of commerce ... Dr. and Mrs. A. H. Hay den honored the Lambda Chis with an informal spaghetti supper at their home last Monday night. Sigma Chis are planning a tea dance to be held at the Jefferson Hotel after the Carolina-Duke game. Many former Carolina Sigs are expected for the homecoming game and tea dance . . . Pi Phis entertained their dates Tuesday night with a "bang up" Hallowe'en party, complete with apple bobbing, a scav enger hunt, fortune telling, and lots of food . . . DZs are having their annual Founders Day ianquet Monday night at the Wade Hampton Hotel ... The wh9le KA chapter went en masse with dates to Orangeburg Friday where Rut and Bobby Osborne entertained with a drop-in before the game . ... Austin Salley entertained SAEs and their dates at a drop-in- at his home in Orangeburg before the game Friday ... KAs had a houseparty last weekend at Nichols and Ben nettsville. Billy Nichols, Adelaide Sox, Bert Knight, Anne Hiott, Harvey Shaw, and Mamie Dowe visited Friday at Billy Nichols' home in Nichols. Saturday the gang moved over to Panda Covington's in Bennettsville where they were joined by 24 KAs and their dates for a cabin party Saturday night. Meditrina Club Motto And Song Selected At Recent Business Meet A business meeting of the Medi trina Society at the University of South Carolina was held on Tues (lay, October 22, at 7 p. m., in Legare, at which the girls voted on a motto and song for the or ganization. The motto which was selected is "Labor and Loyalty." The song will be "Marching Nurses" written to the tune of "Beautiful Dreamer." It was also decided that meet ings will be held on the first and third Tuesdays of every month. Edna Carroll, a sophomore from Conway, was appointed to be held responsible for getting a place in which to hold meetings. A creed for the organization will be decided upon at the next meet ing, which is to be .held on No vember 5. 'ThePrompfer' Appears Again The first edition of "The Promp ter," publication of the University Players, appeared last week in re vised form. Instead of the old 8 page paper, this year's "Promp ter" is a single sheet with all ads eliminated. Thomas Chadwick is editor, and the staff members are Kay Whit aker, Jean Davis, Vernon Taylor, and Jo Anne Dellinger. "The Prompter" is piublished monthly. Girls mui hours of work at mid-semest tion in rushing activities. Jo Seideman, secretary of the Pan-Hellenic organization has an nounced schedules and rules for rushing. There will be no dating during the entire rush period. This period is to be observed as a silent period. By vote of Pan-Hellenic, girls go ing out for rush week will be al lowed to attend the Duke-Caro lina football game and also the Sigma Chi tea dance following the game. Rushees must, however, come in immediately after the tea dance, which ends at 9 p. m. On Sunday, November 10, Pan Hellenic will give a tea from 7:30 p. m. to 9 p. m. Any girl who is interested in rush week is invited to attend. Attendance at the tea does not compel a girl to go through rushing. Pan-Hellenic booklets will be distributed to girls at the tea. Monday, November 11, registra tion will be held in the lobby of Maxcy Dormitory from 2 p. m. until 5 p. m., for girls who intend to participate in rush week. At that time girls must turn in their mid-semester grade blank to show Canterbury Club Will Have Representative As Guest Speaker Nov. 3 Tom Pope, member of the House of Representatives, of South Caro lina will speak to the Canterbury Club, organization for Episcopal students at the University of South Carolina, Sunday, 'Novem ber 3. The Canterbury Club meets ev ery Sunday night at 6 o'clock, for supper and a program afterwards. The $2 rush fee must also be paid then. On Tuesday, November 12, girls will report to the registration cen ter to find out to which of the eight groups of rushees they have been assigned. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, November 12-15, each so rority will have drop-ins from 5 p. m. to 6 p. m. Two groups of rushees will attend each sorority's drop-in every afternoon. Rushees must remain at a drop-in at least 20 minutes, but may not stay more than 30 minutes with one sorority. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, November 16, 17, and 18, there will be no activity. Beginning Tuesday, November 19, and continuing until Thurs day, November 21, sororities will give preferential parties each night. Bids to these parties will be received by rushees through the campus mail. Girls may de cline or accept any invitation. By 1:30 p. m., on Friday, No vember 22, rushees must turn in their preferences to Mrs. Arney Childs, dean of women. The pref erences must be listed in one, two, three order. If a girl is interested in joining only one special so rority and will not consider any other, she may list that sorority three times. The silent period ends at 1:30 p. m., Friday, November 22. On that day at 5 p. m., all sororities' will meet and announce pledges. Rushees will be dropped auto matically from rush week if they are caught violating any of the rush rules. Any girls who desire further information concerning the rush period may address their questions to "Pan-Hellenic, Cam pus."
