Kennedy, in an of ficial memorandum announcing the winners, commanding officer of the naval ROTO unit, statvd "the Pla toon Commander W. M. Novelli and the Drill Master II. A. Whitley, Jr., are to be congratulated upon their outstanding success. All members of the winning platoon are also to be commended fo rthe outstanding manner in which they participated in this phase of competition." 118 h1onor Points The wvinning platoon amnssd a total of 118 honor points. Fountain, all men who have lettered in varsity sports: while one point each was awarded to .1. J. Jones, J. T. Francis, J. W Cochran, and R. S. Fountain, who were membert of varsity squad. Company one breezed through the softball season with a record of ten wins and no losses, and first plac points were split between the two platoons, giving the winning pla toon 7 1-2 more points. Likewise, these two platoons split second place points in intramurtl swimming competition. Company one also won the boxing tourna ment, giving the fi-st platoon another 10 points. To complete the totals, the winning agwre.nte tok second place in both the rifle and pistol competition.
