The fraternities have been ...
Giving houseparties. A few Kappa Sigs went down to Ocean
Drive this past Easter weekend to soak up a bit of that de.
lightful sunshine? The KA's Journeyed to good old Myrtle
Beach and liked it so swell that several more plan to go again
this weekend. Billy Shaw-How (lid you like that sand? The
SAE's took a trip to Pawley's for their illustrious weekend. All
these houseparties were unofficial houseparties you under
stand--that is, the whole fraternity didn't attend.
The Pi KA's Dream Girl Dance will be given May 3rd. The
Dream Girl will be known when during a special dance, the
president of the fraternity will cut in on her.
Pi Kappa Phi representative to the Supreme National con
vention will be Bob Lake while the alternative representative
will be Bill Link. Pledge officers are: Pres.-Henry Randolph.
V. Pres.-Henry Atkinson; See.-Louis Gantt; and Treas.
Al Kink.
SAE's will attend Province convention to be held here in Co
lumbia May 4th and are making big plans for a big house
party for the 11t1i.
Sigma Nu's are still planning for that big party this week
end. Their pledge officers are: Pres.-Loyd Gau; V. Pres.
Harris Todd; Sec. Treas.-A. J. Smith.
KA's officially pledged George Deiter and Anderson Bar
nett last Monday night. The new pledge officers are: Pres.
Billy Shaw; V. Pres.-Clewland Putnum; Sec. -George Dei
ter; and Treas.,-Earnest Moore.
Phi Kappa Sig's national secretary will visit this chapter
May 1st. A special meeting will be held for Mr. Schoening and
t the alum will give a supper in his honor. The brothers are also
planning a caheret dance to be held at Sloan's stiio next week
end and its going to be a mighty big time.
As for sororities ...
Kappa Delta's had a party Thursday night celebrating their
Ansatallation on campus which took place five years ago. Every
body had mueh fun.
The Delta Zetts had initiation Thursday and will have a
party to celebrate this occasion Saturday out at Georige's Pond.
Initiates are: Barbara Binieiker. Martha Erving. (4ene Saw
yer, Barbara Hawthorne, Jessie Phasey. Becky Berghdorf. and
Lillian Kellehain. Rose Knox, Betty Browns, and Norma Tozier.
Pi Phi's had a drop in last Sunday night and are planning
another this coming Sunday from 8 to 9.
New officers for AE Phi are Dean-Jacky Rosenberg; Stib
Dean-Beverly Gergel; Scribe-Helene Stein: and Troas.-Har
riet Cohen.
In the department of...
Rings and pins we have Mary Vin Tucker KD who now
wears Jim Hudson's KA pin while Peniiny .lenmings also of K)
wears a shiny new SA W pin which did belong to 'Bidldog"
Thornton. Sandy Owings takes care of the t'ing departlment
nicely with her lov'ely new dliamnonds. She plants to become Mrs.
Joe Dillard some time in August.

John Ryberg, Naval ROTC stu
dent of the University of South
Carolina, was elected president of
the South Carolina State BaptUst
college student union April 13. The
election was held at the Baptist
itudent conference in Gaffney, S. C.
Some 2.50 students representing
every college in the state were pres
ent. The First Baptist Church of
Gaffney and Limestone College
acted as hosts to the gioup.
Highlighting the program was a
hanquet held in the Limestone Col
lege dining hall Saturday night.
Juring the evening the group was
entertained by girls from the col
lege.
Twenty-five students made the
trip from the University. The girl
members of the convention stayed
at the college and the hoys stayed
in Gaffney. The families of the
church had the boys in their homes.
During the convention a joint rv.i
olution was voted upon conmerning
the prohibition question in th1e1
state. It was voted to send a letter
to every member of the state leg
islature. to the governor, and to
every state newspaper, expressing
the desire that prohibition be made
lawful. The question has caused
ronsiderable comment in the legis
lative channels during the past ses
sion.

from 9 until 1. Music was furnished
by Roy Neal and his Carolina Cava,

Officers of the chapter and their
dates are Nell Mayer, president,
with Lee Taylor; Sue Newton, vice
president, with Jack Sterling; Mary
Clarke, dance chairman, with Phil
Bruton; Doris Alston, secietary,
with Fred Rueber; and Virginia
Williams, treasurer, with David
Crum.
Serving with Mary Clarke on the
dance committee are Barbara
Brown, Sue Newton, Dit Allen, and
Lee Poston.
At 7 p.m. of the same evening,
the chapter and Columbia alumnae
will celebrate Founders' Day with
a banquet, to he held also at Hotel
Columbia.

Pageant and 18 have been selected
by Miss Black.
