Undergraduate cultivation is to be
one of the major points in the build
ing of an even bigger and better
Alumni Association at the Univer.
sity of South Carolina. Aims at pres
ent are to organize classes into
alumni groups before ever leaving
the campus. The association intenns
to help the future alumni to learn
more about Carolina's program and
policies.
Although the association now fre
quently cooperates with student
service organiz.ations in handling
student projects, it intends to play
an even larger part in assisting with
student organizations and student
Projects. To sponsor this undergrad
%tate cultivation program will re
quire one-half of the time of one
person to carry it out effectively.
Other postwar plans are to rework
the present record system, to have
an alumni magazine. and an alumni
fund, and to extend the alumni
placement service. The letter will be
especially helpful in finding suitable I
places for returned veterans as well
as aiding all alumni to find and fill
poitlions.
The present record system is a
temporary one. When Mr. Ralph a
Lewis, executive secretary of the
Alumni Association. camme here in
1940, there was no uniform recordi
system. A system was devised on an
's accelerated basis by setting up card
records by the use of steel plateen
cards. By the ume of these, three
cards could be made at one writing.
