In the South Atlantic Forensic
Tournament among a field of nine
contesting schools.
The tournament winner, this year
the University of Florida. was de
termined on a percentage basis
with the team taking the most de
bates out of the number of debates
pat I icipated in being judged the
winier. In competition, however
the U.S.C. negative team defeated
the. first place winners during the

The University of South Carolina
has been granted 20 additional
housing units, President Norman
Smith has announced. This brings
the total of temporary housing
units for single and married veter
ans to 120.
The University appiien for 165
units from the Federal Housing Au
thority. The Authority has been

asked fo.
President Smith also announces
that the city of Columbia is giving
the University the old fire house
between Pendleton a n d Main
sl reel . This property formci ly be
longed to the University and thien
was s(ld to the city. Now the city
is giving it back to lhe University.
It will be used as a cissroomll
building as soon as it can he it
modfeled.

A sut vey of the University eating
facilities and one nearby etafeteria
andl two popular hoardintg houses
revealed that together the five
establishmenth were feeding 2,300
meals a day. That accommodates
only 716 of the more than 2,200
