Col. E. deTreville Ellis, '10A, *1ICE, of Columbia. was recently assigned to temporary command of the Chicago quartermaster depot, Chicago, Ill. Colonel Ellis has serv ed for two years as deputy director for contract adjustment in the pro curement division of the office of quartermaster general in Washing ton, D. C. J. B. Kershaw deLoach, '19A, of Columbia, recently announced that he will open offices in Columbia as a manufacturers sales agent, dis tributor and broker of merchandise and materials of all kinds. Issued by the Un RALPH LEV is now serving as American Red Cross civilian relief field represent ative in Western Europe. Prior to her overseas assignment, Miss Elle sor was on duty with the Red Cross in Washington, D. C. She was one of three Red Cross representatives who made the round trip on the diplomatic exchange ship Gripsholm during the 1945 exchange of sick and wounded prisoners of war and American civilians. Maj. Ira F. Willard, 'BSA, of Alex andria, Va., was recently awarded the Legion bf Merit for "Disting uishing himself by outstanding per formance in a diversity of tasks." Major Willard Is camp adjutant at Camp Lee, Va., where he has served since 1941. Prior to his present ap pointment. he was a member of the staff and faculty of The Quarter master School at Camp Lee. Before entering the service, Major Willard held a position as an attorney for the General Accounting office in Washington, D. C. Frank Gary Tompkins, Jr., '33L, of Columbia, was recently named as sistant division counsel for the Southern Railway. He will handle legal matters for this company in Richland, Sumter. and Kershaw counties. Mr. Tompkins. a member of the legal firm of Tompkins and Tompkins, recently received his dis charge from the Navy, after having served for three years as a gun nery officer in the Naval Air Force. In a recent letter to the Alumni office, he writes, "Since I have been in Japan I have had time for quite a bit of traveling and skhtseeing. A few weeks ago we drove around Mt. Fuji. The mountains here are as beautiful as the ones in the states, but the roads we have to go on are in the worse condition that I have ever seen."
