With the passing of the old year and the dawning of a
bright and lovely 1946. . . . What is this anyway? . . . A lec
ture or something? . . . Well, let's get out with some "how,
when, and wherefore's." . . . What say, huh? ... I take it that
you had a grand and glorious Christmas in at least one of
the forty-eight states.
THOSE PLEDGES...
The Tri-Delt pledges entertained with a drop-in for all the
pledges of other sororities in the Tri-Delt room in Sims Wed
nesday afternoon from 5 'til 6.... Randy Reeves is pledge
president, Norvell McMaster is vice-president, Nancy Roof
is secretary, Kate Ellison is treasurer, Nancy Nash is schol
arship chairman, and Jean Lumpkin is activities chairman.
. . . Leading the Delta Zeta pledges this semester are Bar
bara Hawthorne as president, Barbara Binnicker as vice
president, and Lillian Kellahan as secretary. . . . Zeta Tau
Alpha pledges chose "Liz" Stewart as their head leader and
helping her will be Martha Haltiwanger, Marilyn Ham, and
Laura Roberts. . . . The pledges of the other sororities are
invited to a tea in the Zeta rooms in Maxcy Friday after
noon at 5. . . . Rose Marie Stewart was elected First Sponsor
for Chi Omega, Patty Hoover is Second Sponsor, Leslie Ben
nett serves as Third Sponsor. . . . Alpha Delta Pi pledges
chose Margaret Sheper as their president, Ann Stone is vice
president, and Eliza McCracken is secretary and treasurer.
. . . Alpha Epsilon Phi pledges elected Phyllis Karesh, presi
dent; Faye Lomansky, secretary; Dena Yaschik, treasurer;
and Jacquie Braverman, editor. . . . At the head of the Kap
pa Delta pledge class is Jean Wallace as president, Mickey
Black is vice president, Bert Hemingway, secretary, and
Ethel McCants, treasurer. . . . They're also planning a par
ty for the other pledges next Wednesday.
WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE FRATERNITIES....
Lambda Chi's began their Christmas holidays with a par
ty at the Gray Goose in Arcadia. . . . You know, with all the
presents, tree, mistletoe, etc.... Glad to see Cootch Carpen
ter and Dave Denning, Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni on the
campus. . . . Also Barney Myers and Gus Apostolokas. . . .
Ens. Tom Barton, 1945 ROTC graduate from the University
of S. C. is back from overseas and was on the campus a few
days. . . . Sorry to see Joe Drennan, Pi Kappa Phi, leaving
school.... Pi Kaps threw a going-away party for him Sat
urday night. . . . Come the 19th of January, there will be a
large blanket party for all the Kappa-Sigs.... And from all
reports it was quite a house party on Pawley's Island during
the holidays. . . . Kappa Alpha entertained it's new pledges
Friday night in the KA room.... KA's annual banquet in
honor of Robert E. Lee will be January 19.... All the KA's
and their dates and rushees had a hilarious time December
21 at the Legion Hut in Maxey Gregg. . . . McDonald and
Hewell stole the show with their skit. . . Phi Epsilon Pi's
are planning a party honoring their pledges at the Legion
Hut this Friday night. . . . Sigma Alpha Epsilon had their
Christmas party just before the holidays. . . . Everything
was wonderful, etc. . . . The date of the Sigma Nu formal is
February 1.

May 17. . .. Charlotte Gregg is in charge. . . . Spotlight for
tonight is centered on the German Ball which will be danced
at the Hotel Columbia from 9 until I. Roy Neal's orchestro
will be on hand to furnish music. . . . Delta Delta Delta's
(dance will be .January 25. . . . Kappa Signma formally pledged
six boys Monday night. .. ..here was a dlrolp-in afterwvards
in the frat house.. ...Iene Stern of Alpha Epsilon Phi has
just returnedl from Miami, Florida, after spending six glor
ious (days down there. . . . Kitten Vincent of ZTA has been
visiting in Nebraska. . . . Their Christmas party at the Eaui
Claire Legion Hut was a big success.
T HAT'S ALL ...
There just isn't any more news along the society line so
we will be forced to turn to our last resort-a "farewvell
speech" (more or less) . . . We really hate to leave (?) and
trust that it hasn't been too boring. . . . Believe me--you real
ly get your exercise trying to chase down enough news for

Given Dance
At Jefferson
The American Legion is giving a
dance for veterans of World War
II Friday, Jan. 11, at the Jefferson
Hotel ball room, from 9-1.
The only thing needed for admis
sion is either a discharge button or
a legion cardl.
Although this Is not a dIrive for
membership. there will be a table
on the mezzanine with application
blanks. Thomas C. Whaley will be
in charge of the booth.
There will be a floor show short.

The Canterbury Club of Trinity
church gave Christmas dance on
December 21 for all its members be
fore they left for the holidays.
Satterlee Hall in the Parish House
was decorated in the Christmas mo
tif with large brightly lighted tree,
red andl green streamers andl holly
and nmisltletoe to promote the Christ
mas spirit. Cookies and punch were
served throughout the evening
while coffee and cakes were served
at intermission.

The YWCA Cabinet had their
regular Tuesday night meeting
Jan. 8, after supper in Flinn Hall.
A report from Sims Council was

tinue with the completion of the
YWV game room in the basement of
Sims dormitory.
The game room was completed
last semesterc, but no furt her work
has been done as yet. Sims Council,
comlposed of girls living in Sims
and Mrs. Arney Childs, advisor, is
making plans for the decoration of
the room. Games, ping-pong tables
and hooks will be there for the en
joyment of the gIrls. A radio and
record player will he in the roam
as well as subscriptions to several
