WE SING THY PRAISE
They got their commissions last Saturday and we get our
sheepskins tomorrow, thus ending our stay at Carolina. As
the years roll on all of us have fond memories stored up to
tap when we feel that reminiscing urge. . .. There were
those nights in Wade HIamptosi when we freshmen gathered
goggled eyed aroundl the p)iano to listen to and swoon over
our favorite football hero, Ken Roskie. . . . How we raved
when it was announced that the Navy was sending in a V-5
unit. The p)reflight swooped in andl landed on Gibbes Green
thus replacing Carolina's vanishing males. . . . We listened
even more gleefully as the Navy Department sent re-enforce
ments to man the USS Carolina. Now through the courtesy
of the Navy, we co-eds of Carolina were outnumbered 3 tc
1--Bliss-Yes we really did beat Clemson! That was back
in October of '43. It was Gene Wagnon and Pat Thrash that
did the "Tiger skinning." . . . All of Carolina mourned. For
we had lost a friend and our staunchest supporter in the
death of our President McKissick. . . . Library romances
were andi still are in full bloom, which sort of brings things
up to date. We all go different ways but we will always feel
with prickling pride, as we hear those strains which stand
for Carolina for us.
We hail Thee Carolina
And sing thy high praise
With loyal devotion, remembering thy days
When proudly we sought thee, thy Children to be
Here's a hail Carolina
Forever to thee..
Adios.
