The YWCA and YMCA immediately assumed the role of welcoming committee and greeted each girl and boy to their new Alma Mater. Members of the YWCA Cabinet visited the freshman girls in Maxey Sunday night endeavoring to calm their fears of the approaching place ment exams. The girls found them selves doing their best to answer such questions as "Where do we eat tongibt ?" to "I want to take pre med, what courses should I take?" After Ihe first dreaded days placement tests and registration became a thing of the past.the YWCA and YMCA joined hands and treat ed the new students to a water melon cutting Tuesday night In Flinn Hall. The energetic ones were found playing pool and dancing while others who indulged in too much watermelon sought the com forts of the easy chairs on the lower floor of Flinn. The night ended with rousing Carolina cheers, led by Jo Seidman, putting everyone in the mood to watch the Gamecocks conquer Clem son this year. Thursday night the fieshmen girls were given a pajama party by the Sophomore-Junior YWCA in Maxcy lobby. The entertainment was im promptu but brought out such hid den talent as that of a new Caro lina alun's, namely Anne Tison. rendition of the "Cat and tihe Rat." A freshman "Y" lunchoon is held each Monday itt 1 p.m. in Flinn Hall. and all freshmen, both girls and boys, atre urged to come.
