hosts at a dance Friday night, June
1, at the Township Auditorium from
9 until I p. m. Music will he fur

applies to co-eds at ilie University
Rare indeed is the girl who does
not have claim on one Army, Navy
r' Marnfe who is tied to her chiefly
by a chain of letlers from all parts
of the world to Carolina. The casual
observer who passos by the campus
and sees the multitude of Navy uni
forms thinks that t he war has
treated Carolina light ly, but he does
not know of the ert'cc":. life of the
dormitory. And that, alas, is where
the waiting comes in.
The girls they left behind them
are divided into four groups. First
is the writing group, which of
course includes all. There are those
faithful lassies who spend two
thirds of every day in putting down
on paper what they wish to say to
the man over there. They are ad
vocates of the diary letter: which
is necessary If the dear habit of
writing every day is to he adhered
to. The co-ed who writes everv
day tells her Gt. 1oe everything;
beginning with the cruel way that
her room-mate pulled her out of
hed that morning, to her lert
thoughts of him before she goes to

The last group are those who are
happy. They need no explanation
because their man is back. You see
them on the campus together, walk
ing hand in hand; with identical
heams on their faces. They are the
ones who rush up to all their'
friends to show off .oe, and to hear
him be praised. They' ate the ones
who hear wedding hells. and think
that Carolina is a little piece of
