The text of the letter is as fol lows: "Dear Fellow Alumnus: "Enclosed herewith is the basic information on the NEW COM PROMISE PLAN for expanding the University plant AROUND THE PRESENT SITE. "The plan calls for an outlay of money by the General Assembly of $:t,825,o0o.o0. It would require a tqtal expenditure of $7,150,000.00, but it is contemplated that $3,a25, 000.00 can be obtained in the forui. of a public works grant froit the federal government. It is estimat d that land to be acquired in the vi cinity of the University would cost $1,000,000.00 but that the City of Columbia will be asked to contribute $250,000.00 for the purchase. "This is a plan proposed by some of the most thoughtful and devoted nuen of Carolina as necessary to preserve the fiter elements of tll present University, and at the s.ime time adjust a great state institution to a changing society. Gold To Registration Cards To Be Given Out Next Week By AKG May Be Secured In Maxcy Lobby; Less Confusion Foreseen Registration blanks for the spring semester will he released the last four days of examination week, !e ginning Vednesday, Feb. 20, a cording to Miss Miriam T. Holland. acting registrar. Members of Alpha Kappa Gam ma leadership sorority will distri btte the registration material in the lobby of Maxcy College from nine ttntil one and from three until live on the designated days. Students are asked to lill in orior to registration in ink if possible the four-section blank labeled "Infor mation for the Registrar" and the student's white personal class sched tile. The three section registration card should not be filled out until after consultations with the profes sors on registration day. Profes sors' initials are not to be requested before March 1. Miss Holland requests that there be no waste of materials so that registration mnay be less confusing. Students failing to secure blanks before March 1, may obtain them at Maxcy lobby that day. Admiral Smith, a native of South Carolina and founder of the Seabee., asked the students and faculty to cooperate with hint to carry on the work of the late Dr. J ! Nil McKis sick.
