SPORT SCOPE
By BUCK CURETON
Ever since football season wound up here at Carolina I have
been promising my esteemed colleague, Dennis Powers, that I
would publish his story on an All-Opponent team picked by the
players for the Garnet and Black. Dennis knocked -himself out
gathering this information from our gridsters and promptly
turned same over to me. However, much to his disgust, I mis
placed and didn't find it until Dennis dug up all the informa
tion all over again and personally saw that I had it.
Practically the cntire roster of this all-opponents team met
the unanimous approval of the Birdmen. Only four teams placed
Then on it and if I do say so myself it's a powerful aggregation.
Here it is and we hope you like it! (Especially Dennis!)

gratulations on your taste in women-you made a fine choice.
hiow-ever, Mrs. McDonald didn't do se badly when she picked

A Possibility
''here is a great possibility that, the Biird basketball team will
be asked to participate in the national intercollegiate basket
ball tournament. Should the now conference leading Game
cocks win the Southern Conference eliampionship, tlhere is very
little doubt in this scribe's mind but what they will be asked.
However, should they not win the conference championship, it
is hardly possible. hi addition, it would be a question as to
whether or not the Navy men would he allowed to leave school
for that length of time to go to New York for the tourunament.
At this time the Birds have an ilublemished record in the con
ference race. 'hey have five wins and no defeats, in conference
standing. For the season Ihey have yet to be defeated by a col
lege team. Only the led Raiders from Fort Jackson, who by the
way are at the top of the service teams, have defeated the Birds.

Intramural Fights
Begin February 9
Eight Bouts Scheduled;
Preliminaries Concluded
The intramural boxing bouts have
been postponed until Friday, Feb
ruary 9th, 7 p. m., due to Admiral
Smith's reception. The bouts are
scheduled to be held in the Uni
versity Field House.
The boys are all primed to go.
There will be eight bouts during the
evening. All preliminary bouts have
been completed.
T. W. Brown, champion of the
135 pound class will be opposed by
Johnny Kilpatrick, who was beaten
in the finals last 'fall. This should
be one of the best fights of the
evening.
W. L. Brown, 175 pounds, will
fight Kenny, 180 pounds, in the
light-heavy class. These men are
new corners to the station and both
are experienced fighters. Both boys
won their preliminary bouts and
are all set for a slam bang affair.
One of the highlights of the even
ing will be the fight between If. W.
Couch, 195 pounds, and Buddy
Riggs, 198 pounds, two varsity foot
hall players. Either of these men
is capable of delivering a knockout
punch at any time and it is ex
pected to be a thrilling battle be
tween two heavy and experienced
fighters.
In the 1'13 pound class Piedmont
will oppose Ellison. This fight he
twecen them will be the first of the
evening. Both of these boys ar
small, fast and experienced, pack
ing a punch in either hand.
A large turnout is expected for
the houts. Don't forget the date,
FIriday, Februiary 9th, 7 p. n., Uni
