Seibels, '33A, '44H. chairman of the University's board of trustees, who for weeks has been convalescing from illness, attended the meeting of the board of trustees Wednesday. I'n June of this year, the Uni versity, by unanimous recommenda tion of the faculty committee and joint faculty-trustce committee on honorary degrees, and by unanimous vote of the trustees themselves, conferred on Mr. Seibels the honor ary degree of doctor of civil law. Conferring the degree, the late President J. Rion McKissick, '05 told Mr. Seibels that "your Alma Mater is proud of your long career. your eminent achievements and your national reputation in the world of business, proud of your noble service to your city, state and country, and proudest of all of the outstanding and imperishable good which, as alumnus, as former presi dent of the Alumni Association, as a= member of the board of trustees, and as its chairman, you have wrought for the upbuilding, of your Uhiversity. "It was you who as a trustee originated the reorganization and modernization of its administration. "You have stood steadily for sound scholarship, for high stand ards of work, for advancenent of every phase of the University's activities. "You stand forth as her (the L'ni versity's) foremost living alumnus in continuous, unflagging, -aci;ve interest in and aid to her, in the length and depth of your. devotion. George Franklin Coleman '40A, '43L of Montgom ery, Ala., who was only twenty miles a.vay from hir, at one of his posts in the States, is again the same disiance an ay, this time on foreign soil.
