score of 48 to 0 in an impressive vic
tory at Carolina stadium. From the
opening minutes to the final gun the
visiting Indians were overpowered
and outclassed by the Gamecocks.
Carolina scored a total of 21 first
downs to the Redskins' two an4

the visitor's 9.
The Gamecocks scoring parade
got under way quickly with a re
turn of a Newberry kick. Then Er
win drove through tackle for a tirst
down. Hunnicutt raced 15 yards

of 61 to 7 but in their second game
they were defeated by a youthful
Penn University squad in one of the
nations greatest upsets. The score
was 18 to 7 a ith Penn University f
taking advantage of the llue Devils
in the opening nintes of the game.
