(Ben Joe) Williams, Jr., '39C, marine fighter pilot, who incidentally has several Jap planes to his credit, brought his Corsair fighter in to land re cently on the newly built air strip at Empress Augusta Bay, Bougain ville, one of the first to greet him was his marine raider brother, Pfc. Harry S. Williams, '43A. The Wil liams boys, both Carolina men, are sons of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Wil liauts, of Charleston. "Ben Joe", the elder brother, was a student in the school of commerce at the University. He was vice-presi dent and secretary of Delta Sigma Pi, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Kappa Sigma Kappa, and the YMCA. He was president of his class in his junior year, and played football and participated in boxing and other activities. Harry, now a radio man with the marines, entered service after com pleting his junior year at Carolina. He expects to return for his degree after the war. Both are addressed through the Post Office in San Francisco, Calif. The picture at right, a photo from the U. S. Marine Corps, was mailed to the Alumni office recently with a letter from "Ben Joe," explaining that the two brothers are receiving the news from Carolina. The letter is shown below. Williams Named lEA President Edward Locke William., '14L, until recently a partner in the law firm of WVright, Gordon, Zachry, Parlin and Cahill, 63 Wall Street, New York, has recently been elected president of the Insurance Executives Association. Mr. Williams received his aca demic degree at the University of Northy Carolina in 1911, and was actively engaged in the insurance business for a year prior to studying law at the University of South Caro lina. lie studied also at Columbia University. Admitted to the bar in 19141, he first practiced law in Camden as a partner in the firm of Blakeney and 'Williams. lie went to New York in 1918 as an associate in the firm of Cravath and Henderson. In May, 1921, he became associated with the I firm of Cotton and Franklin (pred-i ecessor to the firm of Wright, Gordon, Zachry, Parlin and Cahill) and became a p)artner in January, 1923, specializing in legal matters affecting industrials, utilities and railroads. Mr. WVilliamis, who was born in, Lunenberg County, Va., February 24, 1801, now lives at "Kenburn," Grace HIarbor, Great Neck, L. I.
