Around the Campus
Basketball is on the way, and so is summer. The truth of the
rnatter is that as yet, the university officials have released no
furt her word on the subject of basketball other than the fact
that there definitely will be a team. Seems to inc that at the
rate things are going, We ought to have a good team even tho'
the odds are very much against it at the present time.
Phil 'antore is drilling about 30 boys every night from six
o 'lock to eight o'clock in the field house. As near as we can
find out, only Cy Waldrop returns from last year's squad al
though Pat Thrash is expected to be on hand soon.
The boys are drilling oni a fast break and ball handling. C'eorge
Wallace, freshrman, V-12, from New Trier High, Winnetlia, .1ll.,
is currently the team's best. shot. Bob Baggott, Ed Daly, and
Beaeh lwighton, all products of Illinois high schools are showing
up well in practices. Cantore and Ary are the only other boys
whe have had college experience in the cage sport before, be
sides Waldrop and 'I'hrash. A newcomer, Walt Bjorseth who
pliyed high school and independent ball in Aurora, Ill. is do
ing Well. also.
