eyed. was at the Major Conscrvatory
where she has been studying si'ging

two years. She's only seventeen, but
already has a striking me%n-snprano
voice. Frances sa' s that singing has
been her forte as long as she can
remember. \\'hen only four years
old, she won first place in a children's
broadcast in Cplumbia. Her mother
still has the prize which is a pair of
little white shoes.
As we talked we could hear some
one patiently pla- ing scales, which
made us wonder if singers like to
practice. She smiled and said, that
what she didn't like about practicing
was getting started. A fter that it
was usually eninyable. Frances
doesn't have any particular time in
which to practice, but usually manages
to get in ahnut one and nie-half hours
each day. On Sundays yt! \will tind
her sing tng second piano in the First
Preshyterian Church chir.
