XXVI, No 1:3 CL4UM BIA,lSOA, UA SOTY 19, 1943 Founded 1908 Boa r Campus Community Designed To Group Plan Will Not Include Drive Conducted By Y Instead of being asked to give 1everal donations to several dif ferent causes and funds as usual, University students this year will be asked to give in one lump stint all voluntary donations to non campus causes, tinder the new con ilunity chest program recently authorized by the University ad ininiistration. The drive is to be under the management of a student-factilty grotip, which this year includes Van Earl Fillingein, chairman, Dodie lBronv, Sarah M:inn, and Ken Sal liiger, student inembers, and i Dr. 1. Walter, facuilty member, while Dean John A. Chase serves as Uni versity business manager is an ex officio member. As called for under the plan drawn ip last fall by the student faculty relations group, the co-ed ieinbers are to be chosen from its membership by the Alpha Kappa Gamma honorary sorority, the two men to be chosen fronm its member ship by the K,,ppa Sigin Kappa service fraternity, and both A KG andl KSK elect one faculty mei ber. These six members choose their own chairman and formulate the (etailed plaits of the drive. The plan, formulated by the co ordiination committee of the stu dent-factilty relations group, calls for one drive a year, similar to the city Community Chest, in which all orgaizations not of purely campus nature desiring to ask donations of stuIeits will participate. Chase, who served as convener of the group at tis first meeting this week, explained that the drive this year was to be an experiment to try out the potentialities of the plan. At the end of this semester the present chest coumittee will draw ip suggestions to next year's group as to whether it is advisable to have the drive inl the fall or sprihg. or whether there should be a drive each semester, and other details. The timlie of tle drive which1 was set approximatelY withit tle next six weeks will be decided upon definitely at tle meeting of tle coi inmittee to be held this afternoon.i The coniiununiitv chest will not inl citle, accorling to its present set ip, purely-camiipis drives such as tho1Ise held anuiially hv tht V.NICA and the V\\CA, but will include such as the \Vorbl Stud ent Service 1% und, thte Red ( 'ross, thle Clin mese Relief ltuid and oithers.
