Intramural Cagers
Begin Competition
The representatives of six intra
mural basketball teams met at the
Athletic Office on Monday after
noon to discuss and formulate rules
for the intramural basketball season.
"We are short-handed this year,"
says Coach Enright, "and, therefore
ask the cooperation of all who are
interested in the success of the pro
gram."
All teams must have filed notice
of their intention to enter the com
petition with the Athletic Office not
later than last night and lists of
individual players must be in by
Monday. Each team may register
no more than twelve players; those
not registered will not be considered
eligible to play. Each tenement or
fraternity may enter a team, but two
or more tenements will not be al
lowed to combine.
The Field House or the Gym
nasium will be open at night for the
purpose of permitting practice ses
sions by the teams. Showers will be
provided, but players are asked to
provide their own towels." The use
of the Field house and the showers
is granted on the condition that
someone assume the responsibility
of cutting off the showers, of turn
ing off lights, etc. on each night
these facilities are used," Coach En
right warns.
A schedule of the games will be
p)osted in the Canteen and will also
be published in The Gamecock. A
schedule of practice sessions wvill
b)e wvorked out if the Field House
is too crowded on practice nights.
Teams having representatives at
the meeting included four fraterni
ties. These wvere SAE, KS, PiEP,
and SN. Only two tenements had
representation. These were ten. .to
and ten. I'l.

In Southern Conference
The Gamecocks are well out in
front of the other colleges in the
state race and are seemingly well
entrenched in second position in the
Conference standings.
In the state, the Blue Hosemen
from P. C. have played more games
with other state teams than any
other college in the state, winning
7 and losing 3 to rank second in the
standing. Clemson, The Citadel, and
Wofford have each broken even in
state competition.
In the Conference race the
Colonials of George Washington
are tied with the Gamecocks for
second place. However, Duke has
won 6 w!'ile losing 1 and holds first
p)lace. The. Bird ballhawks have won
4 and lost 'while The Citadel has
a record of 'wins and 1 loss.
