An unsigned check for three
dollars in an envelope post

livered to the Alumni office on
September 25. A state of total
emergency was immediately de- h
clared by executive secretary t,
Ralph E. Lewis, and an all-out v
search to locate the sender was
begun.
In his form letter to every \
alumnus and alumna in Ander- a

expressed his -belief that some
former graduate will be disap- 11

"This may seem to be a rather
expensive procedure," read the ,
letter, "but we believe it's worth P
a little time, paper, and post- d
age to keep from disappointing 0
just one interested Carolina n

Besides, it's a well known fact
to one and all that an unsigned d

Swimming Pool Thief
Captured By Students
A trap made of a few pieces of
string, an electric alarm bell, and
bait in the shape of a wallet, caught
the University's swimming pool
tidef this week. Over a period of
two semesters an estimated $75 has
been taken from the dressing rooms
at the pool, student swimming in
structor Roger Kirk declared.
The culprit, one of the street
urchins who frequently play around
the gym and swimming pool, was
caught running from the dressing
rooms by the pool's caretaker, who
was warned by the clamerous alarm
bell.
Many attempts have been made
to catch the young pickpocket,
whose raids had become more dar
ing of recent weeks. Kirk and Cox
decided to set the trap last week
after the loss of more than $22 in
one day.
