AtTICLE I Sectio 1. "The name of this or ganixation shall be thei Governtment of the University a South Carolina. Section S. All regular matrica lates of an4 candidates for degree at the University of South Carolin shall bd consldered members of th student body. ARTICLE II Oficers Section 1. The officers of th student body shall be as followi president, first vice-presidet, secon vice-president, and secretary-trea urer. The president shall be electe from the rising senior academi class, the first vice-president frot the rising senior law clas, th second vice-president from the fO male students in the rising senic academic class, and the secretary treasurer from the rising junior ac ademic class. . - ARTICLE III Duties Section L The president sha call meetings of the- student bod at such times as he may ,deer necessary. Also, any ten (1o members of the student body, us on signing a petition to the studer council, shall have the right to ca sucfi a meeting. The president siha preside over all meetings of tb student body. The president sha be ex officio president of the ett dent council, shall preside *at il meetings, and shall be entitled t a vote in the precedings in cam of a tie vote in that body. Th 1resident may call special meeting of the student council, and shall ca such meetings at the written r quest of a majority of the membet of the student council. The pres dent shall discharge all other dutic incidental or pertaining to his offic Section . It shall be the duty c the first vice-president of the ett dent body to assist jhe presider in the discharge of fiis duties an to assume the duties of the pres dent in the absence of that office! He shall serve as ex officio firf vice-president of the stident cour cil and shall discharge all othe dutlies incidental or pertaining t his office. Section 3. The duties of th secretary-treasurer shall be as fo lows:. (1) To take and preserve legibl minutes of all student body meel Ings in a permanent record boo provided for that purpose. (2) To serve notice of calie meeti,ngs to members of the etude: council and provide for sufficier publicity of student body meeting: (3) To be responsible for a correspondence of the student hod and student council. (4) To supervise, and in a writ ten report account for, all fund under control of the student cour cil. (5) To serve as ex officio secr< tary-treasurer of the student cour cil and to discharge all other dutic incidental and pertaining to hi office. ARTICLE IV Organisation .Section 2. ARTICLE V Student Council Section 1. All powers hereii enumerated shall be vested in .thq student council. ' Section . . The new studen council shall meet the first Tuesda] 1 in May. A*RTICLE VI Powers eand Doties of the Student 8etion . The student council shall be considered the 'standing executive committee of the student I body. It shall have the power to appoint temporary committees for the investigation of any matter properly within the power of the student council and .for the admin istration of any project sponsored by the student council. Section . The regilations gov erhing social evepts shall be admin istered by a Committee on Social Af(airs. This committee shall be composed of the chairman of the Social Cabinet, the ,Dean of Wom- al t en, the Director of Student Activi- I ties, the chairman of the Student n Union Board, the president of the Interfraternity Council, the presi- 3 dent of the. Pan Hellenic Council, S one (1) non-fraternity non-sorority j student, and' two faculty members h to be appointed by the President of si the University. This committee shall have responsibility for all social I events at the University, subject to b University regulations, and shall e submit reports to the student coun k cil concerning its activities. Section . There shall be estab- ii lished by the student council a com t mittee on Student-Faculty Rela- I f tions. This committee is to be com- i I posed of the president of the Co-ed N Association, the first vice-president 2 t of the student body, the Dean of tj Women, the Dean of the College p I of Arts and Science, the President I of the University, three students I chosen annually by the student I council, and three faculty represen- I - tatives chosen by the faculty. This - committee shall meet for the dis- 0 I cussion and promotion of cordial relations between the faculty and t student body of the University. - Section d.
