Dean Arney R. Childs will be hostess this week-end at her home on Pawley's Island to members of Alpha Kappa Gamma. Executive members from each of the five circles of the leadership sorority will be present. The object of the meeting is to make plans for the coming year and to report on the work of the last year. Oartesy% of Cohumbia Recnrd To Be Evening Verse Choir Will Have Program In Chapel Next Week The University verse speaking choir will present a program of spring poetry Thursday evening. May 15 at 8:30 in the chapel. This presentation, the second major one of the year, will consist of 12 num hers with a musical intermission. Mfost of the selections are about spring. Examples are "'Twas a Lover and his Lass," and "Ilark. Hark, the Lark," by Shakespeare: "To Daffodils" by Robert Herrick: and "Tile Barrel Organ," by Alfred N oves. 'The highlight of the selections wvill be "The Bells," by Edgar Al Ian Poe. This program is open to the pubi lic anid there wvill be no admission fee. TIhe choir wvas started in the ia:1 of 1939. It has recently b)een made a fully accredited extra-curricular activity, andl has as its aimi to in crease the appreciation of poetry h:, readling it aloud. BlIster Spann's orchet Sorority Will Have Banquet The Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Delta Pi is celebrating its Founder's day banquet Monday night at 7 in the balroom of the Hotel Wadc Hampton. Suzanne Wilson, president, will preside as toastmistress. The main speaker for the occa sion will be Mrs. Charles Elliott, an alumnae from Columbia. Ann Heath and Emily Wolfe wrote the skit which will depict the history of the sorority for the first ten years of its existence, 1851 1861. Taking part on this program will be Suzanne Wilson, Anne Heath, vice-president; Lucile Cros by, corresponding-secretary; Dot Ehrlich, recording secretary; Emily Brown, treasurer; Sarah Davies, dance committee chairman; and Emily Wolfe. The tables for the ninetieth anni versary celebration banquet will be arranged in a dianiond shape with blue and white decorations. The so rority was first established at Wes leyan College, Nfacon, Ga. and the Carolina chapter was installed in 1928. Phi Epsilon Pi's Frolic At Parties Members of Phi Epsilon Pi fra ternity have filled the last few weeks with activity. Last week the mem bers of the fraternity were hosts to (ates for a hayride and wiener roast at Sesqui-Centennial State Park. This past week-end saw the initiation of Abe Grossman, junior in the school of engineering, into the ranks of the Phi Eps.
