A report from the scholarship fund, given by Virginia CardwellI, showed ten loans madec during the two se mnesters of the preselit school year. These loans, ranging from $17 to $100, total $400, and are miade to students in almost every school in the University. Nearly $100 is now in the fund, available for loans in September. Independents To Have First Tea Sunday Afternoon The Independent Women of Caro lina will entertain with a tea to be given Sunday afternoon, May 4th from 4:00 until 7:00 o'clock, in the Botanical Gardens belonging to the University, located back of Sims Col lege. This is the first social to be given by the Independents as a group, it was announced by President Patty Breeden. Invitations are ex tended to all girls attending the Uni versity. Ann Cathcart, social chairman, is in charge of the arrangements for this affair.
