Sigma Tri-Delt Meeting Climaxed Tonight With Annual Fete Delta Delta Delta sorority will climax its' state meet tonight at 7 with a banquet in the ballroom of the Hotel Wade Hampton. Miss Mary Bake of Chicago, Ill., national executive secretary, who is the hon or guest of the chapter, will speak on "Fraternity's Function in Edu cation." The convention, which began yesterday will end Saturday with an informal luncheon at the Wade Hampton after a roundtable dis cussion in the Alpha Lambda chap ter room at Sims college. A delegation of 20 actives are vis iting Volumbia ab representatives of the College of Charleston chapter of Tri-Delts. Sarah Flinn, chairman for the program at the state meet, planned a theme for the banquet of "The Pearl, the Pine, and the Pansy," Those taking part in the program are Kitty Bird, Joyce Hetzel, Ann Gregorie, Lavinia Lyles, Caroline Hunter, Peggy Forbes, Kate Park Johnson and Helen Walker. Co-chairmen for the convention are Jacquelyn McCutcheon, retiring active president, and Betty Payne, retiring alumnae president. Com mittee chairmen are: housing, Jane Perry; food, Kat Edgerton; ban quet, Sarah Flinn. Maxine Forbes, newly elected president, is to be mistress of cere monies. Carolina Advisors To Give Reception For Girl Reserves Girl reserve advisors at the Uni versity of South Carolina will give a tea April 9 in honor of the 400 girl reserves of the City of Colum bia. The tea was originally sched uled for April 1, but was postponed because of conflicting schedules at the University. The event is in cele bration of the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the national Girl Reserves organization. Sorority rooms on the first floor of Sims. colge.will be opened en suite for the occaFsibn.'The co-ed reserve club advisors will serve and act as hostesses. Margaret Black well is chairman of the group. Membe's of the city Y.W.C.A. and members of the Y.W.C.A. board at the University have been invited, along with the club members. The receiving line will be made up of Louisa Ferguson, general secretary of the (Irl Reserves of Columbia; Mrs. Edwin Bloom, president of the inter-club council; Mrs. J. Rion Mc Kissick, and Mrs. Arney R. Childs, members of the University Y.W.C. A. advisory board; and Margaret Blackwell. /G ly. Virginia Jackson Is New President Of Euphrosynean Virginia Jackson, formerly the vice-president, was unanimously elected president of Euphrosynean literary society Wednesday in Har per college, she succeeds Irene La Borde, who resigned recently be cause of her duties as society editor of the Five Points News. Kat Edgerton is the new critic to succeed Margaret Haskell who re signed at the last meeting. In order that the high ideal of the organization might be main tained, it was voted that all members who miss two meetings will be automatically dropped from the rolls. The secretary and a commit tee will notify each old member of this-ruling after the spring holidays. After the business session, five members of the verse speaking choir, and Mrs. Maud Hawkins, their sponsor, delivered two poems. The participants were Jean Brun son, Eleanor Flinn, Evelyn Connor, Elizabeth Adams, and Florence Robbins, the director. Pi Phi Prexy Visits Miss Amy Burham Onken, national grand presideit, will visit with the Pi Beta Phi sorority April 7 and 8. While Onken is here, she will be entertained at a tea Monday afternoon from 5:15-6:15 in the sorority room and with an in formal party Tuesday night after the AKG Song Festival. Chi Delta Phi, a literary sorority, was entertained by a book review by Mrs. Maud Hawkins, sponsor, last Friday afternoon in the Music room of Sims college. .
