Upon arriving, the sun came up, and a taxi-cab as well . . . Again, they boarded . . . a taxi this time and toured' the town . . . including the beach where the threesome . . . R. G. and P. S. and the chauffuer let the sand shuffle through their feet . . . so with sad hearts and a happy smile, they bid adieu to the Sunshine City and boarded the same old thing . .. a Grey hound, and came back to U. S. C.... Goldfish . . . Fraternity houseparties will hold the hi-light during the Holidays . Kappa Sig's have completed plans for their blow at Pawley's Island . the Sigma Nu's will be just a sand dune away from them on the same strip of territory . . . the Pi Kappa Phi's are tucking themselves away at Ocean Drive . . . where as the Kappa Alpha's are striking a happy medium and will take up their abode at Myrtle Beach for the duration of the holidays . . . Elected Of Polumath Mary Frances Polk, rising senior from Beaufort, was elected presi dent of Polumathian for the coming year. Other officers selected at the meeting were Josephine Lindsay, vice president; Leone Strickland, secretary; Mary Louise Goudelock, treasurer. They will be installed at the annual banquet planned for April 23, in the Wade Hampton Hotel. Mrs. Maude M. Hawkins, associate professor of English at the University, is faculty advisor of the group. Miss Wil Lou Gray, who is connected with the Adult Education department, was the speaker for the occasion. Marie Ulmer, the former presi dent, was in charge of the program which consistedl of a candle light service dedicated to the founders. Members of her program were Dot Elliot, Betty Berry, Kitty Lou Thompson, and Mary Crowv. Lucy Beck Jowitt was in charge of the decorations and Connie John son, of the invitations. AKG Song Fest To Be Presented In USC Chapel The annual intra-fraternity-so rority song fest at the University of South Carolina will be held Tues day, April 8. Completed plans are announced by Alpha Kappa Gam ma, the sponsoring organization. The entertainment will begin at 8 p. i. in the University chapel. An admission fee of 15c will be charged and proceeds will go to the central scholarship fund of Alpha Kappa Gamma. All greek letter organiza tions on the campus are invited to participate. The number of entrants of each group may range from two to eight, and each will sing two numbers of their own selection. Silver loving sups will be awarded to the winning fraternities and so rorities, and plaques to the runners up. The competition is held annually in the spring. Grace Kilgore is in charge of the contest. Winners last year were Delta Delta Delta and Alpha Delta Pi, from the sororities; and Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Chi, from the fraternities. Speaking Choir Plans Program The verse speaking choir of the University has already begun re hearsels for its spring program to be held May 1:, in Drayton Hall. The girls are planning to render several Psalms from the Bible and poems in which beautiful rhythm and sound are predominant. Assisting him will be Vice-Presi dent Harold Moore with Josephine Bailey. Other sponsors are: Ethel Fuller for Hubert Thom asson, secretary; Virginia Corbett for Henry Jones, treasurer; Mar garet Heustess for Wayne Wil liams, junior warden; and Jennie Parker for Guy Ropp, chairman of the dance committee. Buster Spann and his orchestra will provide music for the dance, and will broadcast from the ball room from 11:05 .to 11:30 over WCOS. There will be three no breaks and a special no-break for Delta Sigs and their dates for which the fraternity song "Rose of Delta Sig" will be played. Delta Sigma Pi was founded at New York University in 1907. Beta Gamma chapter was estab lished at Carolina April 13, 1929. The following will serve as chap crons for the dance: Dr. and Mrs. J. Rion McKissick, Dean and Mrs. John A. Chase, Jr., Dr. and Mrs. F. W. Bradley, Dean and Mrs. George E. Olson, Prof. and Mrs. Frank T. Meeks, and Dr. and Mrs. George McCutcheon. group.
