Piano Playinq Gamecocks'
Two pigskin pianists with plenty of football and musical ability are
Elmore (Bobo) Carter and Ken Roskie. They perform after grid hours
on the ivory keys of Preston college.
Carter, one of the mountain boys from Asheville, is a tackle of pound
age and power on Rex Enright's 1940 Gamecock 11 club. He is slated
for a starting berth against Georgia tomorrow.
Roskie, one of the 1939 bohunk twins, has stepped into fast company
in the Gamecock backfield. At present he is playing second pianist to
DeWitt Arrowsmith at the fullback post. But Enright is counting on
him for much service before the Georgia game is well under way.
Roskie, the Dodge lad with floating power, can pass kick and run with
the best of them. And his fingers float over the keys just as smoothly
as his legs over the lime lines.
Carter, as tough as a mountain pine and as hard as a granite stone,
becomes a gentle personage when he sits before the piano and tickles
elusive, but sweet, notes from the keys.

The sponsors for the homecoming day exercises represent the
entire student body. They were chosen from the different
sororities on the campus and from the non-sorority group.
