Advance reports from the Bull

ot Georgia indicate that head coach
Wallace Butts will move into Colum
- bia October 5 with a large, heavy
squtad of Georgia gridsters to test the
strength of coach Enright's* South
Carolina Gamecocks.
With a traveling squad of forty
four headed.by Captain James "Skip"
Sldpworth aid alternate captain Bob
by Nowell, the Athens boys will also
be sparked by promising sophomore
material in the persons of 'Frank
Sinkwich, highly publicized freshman
back of a year ago, Jim Todd, ace
kickgr and passer, Lamarr Davis,
snake hipped wingback and George
Poschner, fast flankman.
The Georgia mentors are a bit wor
ried over the guard situation of the
startirg eleven, inexperience being
the chief factor. Will Burt and Win
fred Goodman converted ends will
probably bear the brunt of the attack
assisted by sophomores Walter Ruark
and Everett Horne. As for the other
positions in the Bulldog forward
wall; captain James Skipworth and
George Poschlier will hold down the
end positions, with lettermen Green
Kiltner and Oliver Hawk in reserve.
Wyatt Posey, Gene Ellenson, Lee Mc
Kinney and Joe Jameson are the
leading contenders for the tackle
posts, while Steve Hughes and Tom
my Witt will share center honors.
Alternate captain Bobby Nowell in
the capacity of blocking back, with
Lamarr Davis, Cliff Kimsey and
either Frank Sinkwich or Jim Todd,
are expected to compose the number
one backfield.

Crawford Offers New1
Advanced Gym Class
An advanced gymnastic team .
s
course is being offered at the Uni- e
versity by Jack Crawford. This r1
course is wide open for all men of N
good physical condition, and a team
t
of 25 or 30 boys is expected.
The course is concerned mainly a
with advanced gym work. Tum- v
bling being the most elementary
phase of the course, it is followed
by work on the mats, parallel bar,
horizontal bar and every other item
important to the men desiring E
knowledge of work in the gym.
In the work on the mats the
neck-kip, head-kip, back jackknife,
back and front complete flips are
performed by the.men desiring to
get grace at a little distance off the
floor. The spring board comes for
its share of attention, flips and
dives being performed on it.
On the horizontal bar is where
grace and finesse of form come in
good stead. All kinds of muscular
coordinations are performed on the
bar, and the class aspirants soon
catch on to many of the twists per
formed. The horizontal concerns
more elementary phases of the gym
work.
C9ach Crawford, once quite a
gymnastic performer himself, is
teaching the course, and leaves it
open to men in all classes, whether
freshmail, sophomore, junior or
senior. The only requirement is for
the applicant to have good physical
condition.
Fifty years ago the University of
Mississippi provided its students
with a dry storage space where
they might leave their guns when
they arrived at school.

A special election for the vacant
osition on the Social Cabinet will
>e held along with the Freshman

innounced Sol Blatt, president of
the student body, after the first
meeting of the student council yes

This election is necessitated by
the non-return of J. B. "Pinhead"
Hinson to school due to his enter

flying cadet.
Hinson was one of the three stu
