Withering News By Jeanne Withers rIKA's FEED The big event of the week comes off tonight as curtain raiser to the Jr.-Sr. The PiKA's are throwing their annual Founder's Day feed, as are other chapters, country wide. Soup and fish is the rule of the evening at the Jefferson, with Words of wisdom and tribute being expounded by W. P. Donelan, beneath trimmin's of the fraternity's colors, garnet and gold. Saturday the same brothers will raise the proverbial "cain" at the traditional Bowery Brawl. For seven years they have carried on, setting some sort of record. Bet the real Boweryites would be surprised at the Dixiites imitation. 0 More little greeks grew up this week and became the real things. The 3 D's pinned the star and crescent on: Kate Park Johnson, Joan Fayssoux, Nancy Murray, Eloise Foster, Kat Edgerton, Maxine Forbes, Carol Cole, Katie Beaty, and Kitty Bird; the Phi Kappa Sigs approved John Mullin, Ted Wingate, and Warren Leitner; and the ADPi's made sisters of: Kathleen Arthur, Frances Allison, Mary Burgess. Sarah Davies, Francis Harris, Juliet Ridley, Emily Wolfe. The hunt is on again. The Phi Sigma Kappa's will be scrambling over the terrain (consult Noah Webster) a we.ek tonight. But the K D's are a jump ahead of them. They're out after the coons tomor-ow night. Ben Wyman is taking Huck Babcock's place as chaser-out-of-the-tree. but if he pushes us in puddles again this time, there ain't gon na he no Wyman to climb trees. * Where, oh, where, is "Goldbrick" Henderson, who littered up the garret with that putrid trash he calls "poetry." Sez us. we'll read the want ads. MONEY MEN 0 The commerce fraternity is finally coming through. Before this their news has gotten lost in the rush and scuffle, but we certainly will (10 them justice from now on. The pledge officers of Delta Sigma Pi -have taken up their duties: Hubert Thomason, president; Ed Welch, vice president; Bill King, secretary; Aubry Inabinet, treasurer. The newest boys to be collared as pledges are: Hiram Scott, Perry Cartwright, and Edison Lown. 0 Tenement 21 is spreading the rumors of a coming beer brawl. Hlev vin knows when it will be, but from the looks of the preparations, it is sure going to be a howling success. And speaking of howling, the law students are growling that their night to howl is in the not too distant future. The law grades finally appeared and provided Pete Blackwell with quite a problem. His grades were not good enough to "celebrate" in the good old way, and not bad enough to seek solace in another tradi tional way. (To Pete's momma and daddy: Pete is being a "rale" good boy, contrary to all other reports.) 0 Mks. John Mullin treated the Phi Kappa Sigs to a dinner party at the Columbia last Saturday before the bouts and Tuesday Sarah lutto of Eastover had pity on some of the poor Sims gals and fed them wild turkey. Among the lucky ones were Lib Watson, Dot Rogers, Virginia Dickman, and Audrey "AshEpoo" Marler. The co-eds are out in force. Many would be surprised at the im portant part they are taking in the political muck and ruck. This is the first year for a concentrated action. Some are running for offices and some have even been good enough to make berths on the machines. 0 The new king fishes of the Nit's (pun swiped from Hazel Dingle, the personality kid) are: president, Stokes Randell; vice-president, John Spigner; secretary, Nevin Betts; and treasurer (take notice, co-eds) Bobby Browne. 0 To take part in the swiping of copy that goes on around this filthy pl:wer, we scrib from sports editor McKinney the challenge to all comers by the newest progeny of the Kappa Sigs, the "gal" team. Sez t}iey, "We'll lickem allI" So common, frats, are you going to let them, get away without a fight? ATO's COME THROUGH 4 Hurrahl The ATO's have rewarded our long wait with a choice item. Their formal and banquet comes two days before St. Pat's. Whee wasn't that worth waiting for? * The Sigma Nit's ah-e feting their dads at a father-son banquet at liarvey's Monday. (Yes, we knowv that the dad's will foot the bill, but it looks better the other way.) House mother Spalding is buusy cleaning out the accumulation of "etc." "etc." "etc." in p)reparation for the visit of the dads to the house afterward. May we say he has qtuite a job. Of course you've all heard of ."Leavem-in-the-road" Reynolds. How 'bout it, Ashepoo? * The talk of house p)arties is in the air. Among the first to jumpl the gtun are the Sigma Nu's and the ATO's. * Thursday P. M. the ZTA's roasted (logs in the greenwvood at Leola Garity's. Tomorrow the gals are slamming a bridge at the Coca-Cola place on Main St. All you fiends who (lot the canteen, sorority and frat houses, and benches on campus, how 'bout carrying yottr feutds to thte tournament? For twenty-five pennies, "right this wvay, ladeez and gentle meni. Only one fourth of a dollar, two bits", you can find an afternoon's enjoyment. * The PiPhi's are repledging Sara Rushton and Mary Simpson, to day, who are mighty glad to be b)ack in the fold. *Well, guess there's no neced to remindl you of the Jr.-Sr. tonite. Which brings to mind the headline of the week, (courtesy of McCants); "McCants Attends Jr.-Sr." (McCants Ptublicity Service). China Watches Columbia Office Supply Cio. SYLVAN BROS. AKG Displays Silver To Graduating Girls Alpha Kappa Gamma urges I all senior girls to view the silver exhibit and fill out cards given them there. This does not obligate the girl in any way. For every one returned Alpha Gamma receives 25c. The money goes into the schoarship fund, which is loaned to needy students. This is a revolving fund, replaced every year. Alpha Kappa Gamma has 106 girls on a list secured from recorded ap plications for degrees. Many other girls have applied for degrees since the list was compiled. Only 90 girls have tilled out cards thus far. Others are urged to contact a member of the nrg1a-nOn some time durinLy the week. well" and his son. Francis W.
