Romance Languages, and her party
of Carolina students have been back

They had passage booked on the
California, which was commandeered
by the British government when hos
tilities broke out. Then they were
offered passage on the Athenia, but
due to the efforts of Madame Swee
ny, they took earlier passage on the
Antonia and Samaria, by splitting
'the party.
The Antonia, a ship made to ac
.ommodate 500 passengers, brought
over 1,200 on that voyage. The ex
tra space was made by putting bunks

room, eight feet wide and ten feet

Girl Prom Theatre
Under the joint sponsorship
of The Gamecock and the Ritz
Theatre, Carolina students will
be given an opportunity to
choose their number one
'oomph girl' in Hollywood.
According to a program out
lined by Grayson Post, man
ager of the theatre, the presi
dent of the student body,
George Coleman, will be invit
ed to carry on a three-minute
telephone conversation with
the movie queen from the stage
of t4e Ritz Theatre Monday
night, October 2, at nine
o'clock.
On the date of the Holly
wood-Carolina telephone hook
up the Ritz will show a picture
featuring the students' selection
of Hollywood's 'oomph queen.'
A ballot box where votes can
be deposited will be placed in
the Canteen tomorrow. Tues
day, September 26, at high
noon, will be the voting dead
line. Each student will be al
lowed one vote. An official
ballot appears elsewhere in Thc
Gamecock.
