Bennett Talks
To Clariosophic
On Democracy
"Someone has said that 'eternal
vigilance is the price of liberty'. It
costs more than that. A demo
cratic government is the most ex
pensive government-the m o s t
slow-moving government-that a
people can have. It must be pre
served, but it must be preserved at
a cost."
This was the admonition which
Hon. Neville Bennett .gave mem
bers of the Clariosophic and Eu
phradian literary societies last Tues
day night.
He emphasized the necessity for
the modern college man to study
present-day government in all of its
forms, showing that through watch
fulness and study only can we hope
to preserve democratic ideals.
E. Menton Holland, president of
the Clariosophic, presided. The
meeting was held in the Clario
sophic hall.
