Virginia I WinC Breaks Turn Tide Of Game Trzeciak Ruins 101 Yds. Ralph Dearth Paves Way For Carolina's Only Score With Long Pass To Johnson Scoring with two quick 'thrusts in the closing moments of the game, Virginia Military Institute defeated the sophomore team of the University of South Carolina 24-7 in Lexington, Va., last Saturday. A crowd of approximately 3,000 people witnessed this contest which was heralded as one of the outstand ing battles in the Southern Conference last week. It was the second part of a double-hea'der with Washington and Lee opposing Elon in the first game. Nine sophomores started off the game for . Carolina, and the Cadet eleven included seven. Coach Don McCallister used eighteen substitutes during the game, and all but five df the players making the trip saw ser vice in the game. Paul Gaffney*kicked off to Jim Far ley, of V. .M. I., who returned the ball to the ina 45 yard line. Negotiations are under way to bring Davidson here on October 16, but this date has not been agreed on as yet. Mr. Harth also hopes to get a game with Georgia Tech in Columbia.
