Carolina Meet P. At Clinton Next Week ( Roster Of Team Given Rampey And Lonchar Standout In Practice Game Against Varsity Thirty-five Carolina biddies, under the direction of Coach Ted Petosky, are quickly getting into form for their opening game of the season with the P. C. Anklets next Wednesday night at Clinton. Two among the candidates for back field position seemed outstanding dur ing this week's scrimmages. Paul Rampey from Easley looked to be in mid-season form in the scrimmage against the varsity team when he ran eighty-five yards for a touch-down. Tommy Lonchar of Moosehart, Illi nois, passing and punting ace, seemed to have the edge on the other can didates for quarterback position. Hi5 passing, to Gene Alexander on th< receiving end, of Carbonsdale, Illinois appears to be working well after sit days of practice. Injuries will probably keep severa promising Frosh gridders from play ing against the P. C. team. Dicl, Baxter, guard of Toledo, Ohio, brok< an ankle several days ago and wil probably be lost to the team all sea son. Irving Granoff, of Brooklyn New York, also a guard, was injuret in the scrimmage against the varsity Tuesday. In the practice game with the var ay, Freshman team looked prom ising. The blocl ing and tackling o the Freshman line looked especiall3 good. The backfield has three speed} stars in Gene Robinson, Paul Rampe3 and Red Snyder. This battle will be featured by the ork of the opposing sophorporic ag regations, and according to Coach tamman, who saw the cadets in ac on against Wofford Saturday, it mould be a good one. Last year with one of the best fresh an squads in the south, V. M. I. on the state title of Virginia handily, hile the Carolina Biddies were do g the same thing in South Carolina. In their first game of the year, V. [. I. defeated Wofford 19-0, display ig a strong attack and an air tight rfense. The Gamecocks likewise ialked up one on the winning side F the ledger by routing Erskine by ie somewhat larger score of 38-0.
