C. at Clinton on Sept. 30. The biddy eleven that swept the state ( last season undefeated will go to make up a large portion of this year's varsity p aggregation but the new material which has reported this week gives indication r f another powerful eleven. With such stars as Paul Rampey of p sley, Gene Robinson of Chester, Kirt Norton of Easley, John Crews of Co umbia and Red Snider of Toledo, the frosh will have power plus speed. Other ioted high school stars who are casting heir fortunes with the Carolina fresh an this season are Cecil Wolfe, brother f Grayson and Harry Wolfe, both for er stars at Carolina, Jim Reynolds of ishopville, Orville Player of Sumter ho was voted the most valuable athlete t Sumter high, Dick Baxter of Toledo, nd Herbert Shroud of Darlington. Whitey Cope ot Epworth Orphanage, ne of the few athletes from that insti ution to ever attend Carolina, will make iis appearance this week. Hydrick Weinges of St. Matthews who ade a name for himself at Bailey Mil itary Academy will bolster up the frosh leven. John Crews, former captain of Colum ia high grid eleven, will also be watched during the boxing season, he having re ceived recognition as a left-handed glove tosser. Kirt Norton and Paul Rampey wcrc members of the high school eleven that I defeated Greenville high and met Chester i for the state championship, being de feated by one touchdown. Rampey madle the mythical all-state eleven and has been the prize sought by scouts from various i schools. Frosh Ready me Battle Four Sophs Start Gaie Fifteen Lettermen Back First Of Twelve Game Schedule To Be Played In Improved Stadium Branded as the mystery team of the tate grid race, the South Carolina Game :ocks will open their 1936 football season tgainst Erskine's Flying Fleet Saturday tfternoon at 3:30 in the local stadium. This game, which is the first of a welve game schedule, will give fans an ndication of the strength of this year's dition of gridders. Coach Don McCal ister announced that he expected to use large number of reserves in order to irrive at a winning combination. Forty-seven men reported for practice it the first of the season, and 24 of these vere sophomores. These are expected to bolster up the emains of last year's mediocre eleven. Coach McCallister is faced with the ask of replacing seven men lost by grad ation. Captain Bud Alexander, who was mainstay of the 1935 eleven, will be nissed from the team, and probably the iggest gap will be caused by the loss of Vilburn Clary, all-state halfback for two cars. Hie is assisting Ted Petoskey with he freshman squad. Other C men who are not in the ranks re Ernest Stokes, second all-state cen er; Jack Derrenbacker, fullback; Jack -ennell, end; Fred Craft, end; and Tom Vat son.
